On Day 27 we headed to Nara, a small town 45 minutes by train from Kyoto that became famous over the years because of its community of adorable deer that bow to visitors in the park next to the imposing Todaiji temple.
We met our friend Pinky and her family at the beautiful temple where we saw a huge stone buddha and two golden buddhas on either side.
In Nara Park nearby, we pet and fed the deer who were very cute but also a lot more aggressive than we had expected. Several deer nibbled on Chloë’s shorts while she tried to feed them and Raphaël was too scared of being bitten that he kept running away from them. It was hilarious!
They say laughter is the best medecine and today this saying couldn’t be more accurate because we laughed more in one afternoon than we have throughout our entire trip!
