Gill let himself into the apartment, the bag in his arms fairly light despite all the shopping he’d done this afternoon. It had helped that he’d left most of what he’d purchased out and about town and hadn’t taken it home with him— save a few things.
Thyme (as she was now being called) came bounding out from one of the far corners of the apartment, tail wagging heavier than her tiny body could allow without wagging back and forth with it. Gill crouched, scratching her behind the ears fondly. “Thanks, girl,” he told her (despite the lack of vocal ‘welcome home’ being spoken), before pulling the dog treats he’d bought from his bag and setting them on the floor in front of her.
“Happy Valentine’s Day,” he wished her— despite the fact that she had not waited so much as a second to tear into them. Gill smiled, stood, brushed himself off, then brought the bag containing the remaining items into the kitchen.
