Thanks, Tom Tomorrow, for reminding me of the sheer stupidity of the argument about reducing social security benefits to avoid having to reduce them later maybe.

If Obama gets reelected, he will have kind of a mandate basically, I mean to go with his version of a big deal -- which will be, you know, Bowles-Simpson, the Left version of Bowles-Simpson, let's say, Bowles-Simpson with a tax hike for people with over 250[k] or 500,000 and a little less aggressive entitlement reform than people like me would like.

No one should have to go the polls this fall not knowing whether or not President Obama wants to cut Social Security. If reporters were treated like school teachers, and tens of millions of voters go to the polls not knowing the answer to this question, the reporters would all be fired. But in a country where 'double standard' is increasingly the national motto, we shouldn't expect incompetent reporters to be held accountable for the quality of their work.

Watch this video and help Alan Simpson and Erskine Bowles Fix the Debt.
Last week, the group, calling itself Fix the Debt, went public at a news conference urging the president and Congress to embrace a deficit-reduction plan along the lines suggested by the bipartisan Simpson-Bowles Commission, which included reforms of a tax code that produces too little and entitlement programs that spend too much.
