I’m just about to start watching season 4 Starsky & Hutch today and I’m intending to marathon for most of the Easter weekend. There may be a few related reblogs to accompany. All tagged ‘starsky and hutch’.
I just started Sweet Revenge....see you in tears and laughter at the end.....
So I just got to end of season 6 Homicide Life on the Streets and I’m sat here in tears. I knew what was coming, but not exactly and it was so painful to watch play out on the screen.
I was never the biggest Kellerman fan when I originally watched it 25 years ago but this time through I was hurting so bad for him. What he did was wrong and he was so messed up at the end but I just hated that everyone turned on him, from not throwing the football in the squad room to when Stivers gave him up to Gee, I just can’t.
And then Bayliss...oh Tim, the whole of that scene just had me bawling. From where he’s shot to when Frank is at the hospital by Bayliss’s bed, when he’s speaking with Bayliss’s mom. Bayliss was always my fav character back in the day, always had a soft spot for him, and he and a Frank? Ugh, with Frank leaving it’s just not going to be the same in season 7. As soon as I’m finished with season 7 I’m pinging straight back to season 1.
Two partnerships I’m going to be mourning the loss of; Bayliss and Pembleton and Lewis and Kellerman. Like old married couples I could listen to their conversations for the whole length of the episode. They were awesome together.
Ballard and Gharty are okay but they won’t ever match the original characters and Falsone, I just can’t bring myself to care about him. I don’t know what it is but he just doesn’t interest me at all. And Stivers, I’m sorry, I really don’t like her at all. From her part in the Lewis, Kellerman, Mahoney thing, I just, I can’t like her.
I’m consoling myself with the fact we still have Lewis, Munch and Bayliss (and Gee) in the last season but I will be very surprised if I enjoy it as much as the first seasons.
I fell in love with this show when I was sixteen or seventeen, back when it was airing on tv (in the UK and at what godawful time they broadcast it, which from memory was something like like 11pm. No idea what channel, though I suspect it was probably channel 4 as that’s the one I can imagine bothering with it). I fell in love with the show and the characters and the brilliant way it showed the story over a 45 min episode. It was engaging and mesmerising, from the hand held camera shots to the dialogue heavy exchanges between the characters that a lot of the time had nothing to do with cases, just rhapsodising on life. You didn’t see the crime most of the time (not until the later seasons anyway) just the bodies and the detectives trying to put it together. You rarely saw any of the csi stuff, just leg work and interviews. It was about the story and the people; the victims and the criminals and the detectives themselves.
The main characters were never simply good or bad, you laughed with them one week and wanted to shout at them the next. They were human, with their problems and faults, they were real. You loved each and every one of them despite this, which is why even with what Kellerman did, I still feel for him.
I’m losing the ability to write because it’s late and I have work in the morning and my brain is slowly shutting down now but, I’m so pleased I started watching this boxset (I actually bought it back in 2013!) because it’s been a journey over the last three or so weeks. Like with watching Young Guns for the first time (since since around the same time actually, but about a year or so before I got into HLotS...) it’s been a trip down memory lane. Watching as an adult, watching so many years later has been interesting. Watching as a slasher has been different as well, as I didn’t discover slash til I went to Uni.
One thing that is going through my head and which I love is that after watching so many episodes over such a short space of time (at least 12 today’s I have the title music in my head and it’s glorious!
Person of Interest S3 ep 14 Provenance
Shaw to Harold and John after she walks in: “I hate to interrupt this mildly erotic moment, gents. But the invitation advises us not to be late.”
*squeals in slash*
(Plus Shaw in that dress - woof)
Oh. My. God. The bit where they sign in!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The lady: “Of course. Harold Wren and guest.” Waits until John moves away and then to Harold “Oh, my, he’s gorgeous.” The look on Harolds face! The raises eyebrows to her and then the small smile to himself as he walks away.
*SQUEALS IN SLASH*
(Shaw fighting in that dress - woof)
Harold and the 3D printer - do you two need a room?
Nice diversion guys.
(I do prefer Shaw in her black tank top outfit though)
“Slight change of plans Cyril.” Oh Reese, you awesome person!
BOUCHARD!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Finch talking with Fusco over gold and diamonds then Fusco saying “All I’m saying is we all make a pretty good team.” Reese’s “There’s one team mate missing.” And then the toast to Carter *sighs*
Arghhhhhhhh!!
I just watched the last ep of season 1 Person of Interest and all I can say is

I just finished watching the movie that rounded up the series and I’m feeling a little emotional. Hiding behind a cut because no one wants to read this right now.
