It’s important to encourage those who are unsure about their identity to explore it fully. It’s important not to stifle that kind of self-discovery.

At the same time, you should never pressure someone to identify as something else if they’re certain of who they are.

An individual is the only one who can know their identity for sure. And you only have a say in your own.

Your gender and your pronouns are what you say they are.

You not only deserve to have them used and respected, it is correct to use and respect them, and incorrect not to.

Another friendly reminder that you know what happened to you better than anyone else. If someone’s argument involves denying your experiences, or telling you it couldn’t possibly be aphobia, they are not worth arguing with. The moment they try to do that, they demonstrate that they are not worth your time.

If someone harms you for being a-spec, you have the right to recognize it as aphobia, and you deserve to have others recognize that too.
