Dagna, The Arcanist
According to her father, Janar the Armorer, Dagna’s family has been part of the smith caste for a hundred generations. Despite this long lineage, Dagna felt no interest in smithing and chafed at the restrictions of her life, feeling misunderstood by her family. Instead, she traveled to the Circle of Magi, with a letter of introduction from the Hero of Ferelden, to study magic. Dagna was intrigued by the theory of magic, even though she knows that, as a dwarf, she will never be able to practice magic as a mage can. Her father did not support her leaving, as to doing so meant becoming casteless.
Dagna wrote a comprehensive theory of how lyrium vapors relate to the supply of magic which has become required apprentice reading in most circles, including in Tevinter. She has worked in the Tine Tower Circle of Magi as well as with Magister Tebrin's apprentices in South Post in Tevinter Imperium. By 9:41 Dragon she was working as an Arcanist in Tantervale in the Free Marches. She has been recruited to the Inquisition as the resident Arcanist.
