Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to let ya'll know that I started an instagram for the big man.
its new and not very interesting atm but give us a follow if you'd like, I'm pretty much following everyone back :)
That trot though
So I haven't been able to work the big man this last week as we are starting to get water in place around the property and there are trenches across all the walk ways out to the arena/round yard/any where else I might work him.
But I brought him in yesterday for a brush and to attempt to put his rug on him (last winter he was to fat for the belly straps to do up) and he was super just standing and chilling out even though it was very windy.
Clearly the diet has been working as I had to shorten the belly straps so yay for us.
Have a cute pic from last summer when I was sun baking as he was grazing and he decided to come over and say hello
not a lot has been happening on the horsey front with me, I'm currently house sitting so the bub is just chilling out at home.
I had Kirsten, a friend of mine, up 2 weeks ago and she rode him and well it was interesting to say the least. He behaviour and work was lovely in the walk and trot but again in the canter he threw in some huge bucks and honestly I'm not about that life, so when I can afford it/ he is free Arky will be sent off to boot camp with a very competent trainer I know.
Looking back on the footage of my friend riding him we noticed some very slight lame ness in his near hind, which I will be having looked at before he goes off to the trainer. No point spending money on him if its not something that can be fixed/might also be contributing to his bucking.
I was super happy though because Kirsten was very hopeful for him being able to be worked out of this and thought he had a lot of potential.
So fingers crossed this lameness and bucking is fixable.
Training Log #4
So not a whole lot has been happening on the working front.
I had to order a longer girth because Arky was to fat for the one I got with my new saddle, and after 2 weeks I still haven't received it and what's really annoying is that with the diet I've had him on the old one would probably of fitted him now.
Ordered some stuff so that I can start doing some clicker training with him because I don't want to just keep lunging him all the time because he will get bored with that super quick.
Hopefully that arrives soon and we cant start to do some training as well as my bloody girth because apparently I'm competing in TTT Dressage in November and I should probably start getting my horse out and about
Here's to hoping I can get the big lug to work like this under saddle
The only man I'll ever need.
