Even if he managed to somehow escape, he has nowhere else to go. The Watchers have been his family since he was found and rescued as a child, they are all he knows. Even though it wasn’t always — or ever, if he was honest with himself — easy, they were there for him. What is he thinking, he can’t turn his back on them, even if he escaped they would find him and—
Well. No one has ever escaped the clutches of the Watchers alive.
Green eyes flash in his memory.
A dashing smile. A…bared chest?
“You must be new,” the pirate smirks and Grian grits his teeth.
“That’s none of your business,” he spits.
“Cute,” he says, condescending. A voice calls for the pirate before Grian can attack him again and he throws a charming smile his way.
“Until we meet again,” the pirate pulls off his hat and waves it at him, as he jumps off the ship while holding onto a rope connected to presumably his own — stolen — ship.
The only man he knows stupid enough to openly defy the Watchers and somehow get away with it.
Grian resists the urge to groan out loud. He can’t believe he’s going to ask Scar for help.
