This is an Alternate Universe of the show Steven Universe. In this universe, Rose and Greg conceive Twins. Rose realizes she can only give her Gem to one of the babies and begins to grieve over this. Pearl notices this grief and, knowing she’ll lose Rose either way, decides to give her Gem to one of the babies to make Rose happy.
The twins are born as a boy and a girl named Steven and Nora. Neither Pearl nor Rose planned on which baby got which Gem, so it was just coincidence that Steven got Rose’s Gem and Nora got Pearl’s.
The Verse was created by an artist named Pip, he/him, whose main accounts are peregrinvirtual.tumblr.com (rarely used because he’s lame) and littlepippit.deviantart.com.
Before asking a question, please clarify if it’s for the Artist or for one (or more) of the Characters. Please note that when asking Characters questions, you should have the same level of knowledge as Steven and Nora. For all intents and purposes, you, the asker, are a random human on their version of Earth. You don’t know about Fusion, or Corruption, or Homeworld, or the Diamonds, etc. Innocent questions like “Do you know Connie?” may be answered, if they’re not too meta. Also, remember, not all questions will or could possibly get answered.

Q. How do I read the full comic?
Tapas is BY FAR the easiest way to read it. It’s free, you don’t need an account, and it’s all right there in order for you to find and it keeps track of where you left off. However, if you really just want to stay on Tumblr, every comic has a link to the previous, next, and first updates. I will link both Tapas and the first episode on Tumblr.
As of Season 1 episode 30, I now draw the comic in full colour, with backgrounds.
It’s easier for me that way. Colouring takes more time, and I don’t like the way the characters look in colour on empty backgrounds. Occasionally I will do pages with some colour but it won’t be the norm.
Q. Why don’t you draw backgrounds?

Backgrounds are hard and they take a long time for me. It’s not fun to draw them, so I don’t if I don’t need to. I feel like I include enough information to give you an idea of where they are in the world when necessary, though.
Q. Will we get X episode?
Maybe. I’m not just doing every episode. The earlier episodes are going to be pretty similar to a lot of season 1 episodes because I’m trying to get the same basic information out, but not many Twiniverse episodes are just going to be Steven Universe episodes except with the Twins.
Q. Patreon? Discord?
No Patreon. I tried it for a bit but couldn’t handle posting regularly and giving perks.
No to Discord. I had one but it was dead and discouraging me so I deleted it for my sake and the comic’s.
Q. Can you draw X?
We can discuss commissions, but I won’t draw anything as a request. I may decide to draw certain things for the comics, like Fusions that won’t appear, but they won’t be posted. At least not for a while.

Q. Are the twins actual twins?
Yes, they were both conceived by Greg and Rose without Pearl’s involvement. Rose was pregnant with them both. Pearl giving Nora her Gem is more like a human giving another human a kidney.
Q. How did Pearl give Nora her Gem?
I, like many other fans, believe Rose erupted into some form of light when Steven was given her Gem. That light may have been the cause of Greg’s permanent “sun” burn.
Rose started to glow first, then Pearl added her light to Rose’s. They did not actually fuse and Rainbow Quartz was not involved in any way. When the light faded, the twins were there. They were both born at the exact same time. Pearl was never pregnant, she just transferred her Gem during the light show.
Q. Why does Nora have Rose’s features?
Nora just takes more after Greg than Pearl, due to the fact that Greg contributed the most to her Organic form. I did take a little bit of liberty with giving her lips like Rose’s, though. Since Rose is the one who conceived and carried Nora, some “genetic” traits passed to her during that time. It’s also partially because she looks good with those lips and partially because it’s very possible Greg could carry a gene for them. Her eyelashes were an accident, but would fit just like Steven’s hair is reminiscent of Rose’s originally.
Q. Why do the twins call Pearl “mom” if she didn’t carry them?
That’s just how Greg raised them. That’s how he sees the situation. Even if Pearl didn’t physically carry the twins, she’s still a mom to them.
Q. Can the twins fuse and do they make Rainbow Quartz?
Yes and yes. Unfortunately you’ll just have to wait to see!
Q. How old are Steven and Nora?
12 currently, and were born August 15th at the exact same time. Neither is older.

Q. Which of the surviving CG’s were with Rose during the Rebellion?
Ruby, Pearl, and Peridot.
Q. Is Agate made of our Peridot and Amethyst?
Yup! The Gems you know and loved, just mashed together.
Q. What kind of Agate is Agate?
Polyhedroid Agate! She only goes by Agate, though, like Garnet.
Q. How long has Agate been around?
Longer than the Twins.
Q. Is Agate a romantic relationship?
Yes. No, I don’t care what Maya said about it. This is an AU.

Q. Can we see Peridot and Amethyst?
Their current forms will be shown after Agate reforms! These forms will not appear in the comic, but I will be posting them shortly after that. Which may be sooner than you think.
Q. How can Peridot, an Era 2 Gem, have been in the Rebellion?
In this AU, our Peridot is an Era 1 Gem, who is most likely just an overcooked runt. Her height could also be attributed to being improperly implanted in her Kindergarten, perhaps resulting in less resources going in to her production. Either way, she’s not an Era 2 Gem here.
Q. When did Amethyst and Lapis join?
Amethyst’s story is largely the same as it would be during the show. Lapis was found in the mirror and released shortly after the Corruption Light, and was grateful to Rose for letting her out and making sure she was okay. She was embittered by Homeworld’s treatment of her, but didn’t have the 5000 years of hating the Crystal Gems, so she didn’t seek to return immediately and instead grew to love Earth and became a Crystal Gem to help Rose and the others help the Corrupted Gems.
Other Gems:
Q. Where is Sapphire?
Sapphire is still affiliated with Homeworld. The event at the Sky Arena still happened, and she still was wrong in her prediction of the end of the Rebellion. Garnet was not formed that day. This will be addressed in the comic itself.
Q. When is Sapphire coming to Earth?
When she gets here.
Q. Is Rose still…?
Yes.
Q. If Pearl is gone, how will the PD reveal work?

Q. Did Pearl love Greg, too?
Pearl absolutely did not like Greg. Their relationship was just like canon up until Rose discovered she was having Twins.
Pearls are not considered Gems. They are not part of the caste system. They are literally made to be possessions for their owners. They are accessories. They are handbags that can open doors. Our Pearl outright says that she is considered to be one of Steven's "things."
"I'm only here because I'm bringing your things. And they consider me one of your things."
Yes, it is true that all Gems have their purpose defined for them before they're even made. And yes they will be punished for stepping outside of that purpose. But in this society, those Gems are people. Pearls are not.
If you think Pearls aren't slaves, or that "Pearls are slaves" is a "take" you can disagree with, fuck off.

Me personally, I'm always hesitant to use any real world terminology for comparisons with SU, lest we have another "the Diamonds are Nazis" discourse
And the way slavery was enacted against black people was fucking horrific- like, we got made into furniture. Our babies were used as alligator bait. They cut off our toes if we tried to run, or our hands if we stole. We were sexually assaulted without hesitation or remorse. THEY branded us. THEY FUCKING ATE US. Like this shit was so bad that if I made this same post on TikTok or Twitter it'd get taken down almost immediately
On the other hand, calling Pearls servants really doesn't pay respect to the degree of objectification they have in-universe.
My phone is an object- I use it daily to preform tasks, but I dont abuse it for the fun of it. It needs to work after all, theres no point in mutilating the device. You might throw your phone in a fit of rage, but typically you're neutral to its existence. In that sense, Pearls are treated like phones. It's used to do daily mundane tasks, and if it breaks or needs repair, thats what the Reef is for. Pearls are indeed objects as far as Homeworld is concerned
Could you call slavery just objectification then? It almost feels like more than that. Slavery against black people wasn't just indifferent, it was intentionally cruel and psychotic in ways you could never imagine

I will say (and I said this to Nugget personally too) that I was not thinking of slavery in the American sense. I was thinking of slavery in the "Roman" sense. Where everyone is "the same"* but those people over there don't get to be people. This is a very different depiction of slavery, and it's very easy when you're seeing red to not think about one depiction when you're focused on a different one. Be respectful y'all.
'Cause Nugget is right and the way American slavery actually went down, and not the sanitised school system version, was actually horrific. It is not at all the same as previously seen versions. It's not the 'born to be a servant and mistreated' kind of slavery. It is beyond that, and far more complicated than my white ass can properly convey.

More and more recently, I’ve begun to get some people coming to me asking for some clarification on LGBTQ stuff. When I was younger, I had to discover many basic identities and labels by myself, through research of various sources, or pieced together from disconnected blog posts.
In the year 2019 you’d think we’d have a kid-friendly website that describes all of this in simple terms but… I’ve yet to find one that isn’t primed for guardians/parents of LGBTQ parnets and prioratizes them instead of the LGBTQ kids themselves….
So I tried to make a quick graphic to organize everything!
Keep in mind - this is based on MY experience and the terminology I have grown up using. Everyone’s experiences may differ - and I tried to simplify in some places to make it easier to read. (For example… I didn’t really go into detail on non-binary identities… but I may make a seperate graphic for that someday because that’s its own box of pears.)

Oh yeah forgot to mention I had a sceptoplasty almost two weeks ago. Been recovering <3 Got my turbinates reduced, too. Whatever the hell those are. I'm still a bit crusty and a little swollen, and my nose is SO DRY from the lack of humidity and all the oxygen going through that wouldn't before lol. But I'm hoping that'll clear up because I'm not a big fan of the weird hard lump on my nose =w= mmm. Been sniffling and blowing my nose WAAAAAAAAAAAAY less, too, so I don't sound like a goddamned drug addict anymore. I'm stoked about how much money I'll save on tissues.
I swear I want to be working on Twiniverse, I really do, but I haven't been able to figure out Onyx yet and it's driving me nuts.

I never thought I needed to, because I hate spending money, but... it happened. And there's no refunds. So now I have to somehow sell what I bought (at a loss!) or I'm just out $1k because I woke up with mania today. When my medicine kicked in just a few hours later I cried. I still cry every half hour or so...
Please, PLEASE, find some way to protect yourself from this.

This is basically early spoilers and maybe not relevant to your SU AU, but when we meet Nora's best friend/future love interest.
Will he be adopted or be in a foster system (long story short me and my two younger siblings had been bounced from foster home to foster home. When I became 12, we finally founded our forever family! Getting adopted by a loving family was the best day of our lives).
Or will he live with his aunt or uncle like Peter Parker? Or his grandparents like Arnold?

I'm sorry, I have had nothing but bad experiences regarding adoption and everything around it. I do not plan on including it in this story at all. I only wrote it into WDAU's Twiniverse because it's already a core of that series. And sorry to be blunt, but I think it's kind of...? I don't know the word. Off-putting, maybe? I don't even know the right feeling... but I feel some kind of way about coming in to someone's inbox to ask for not only spoilers, but with a little bit of a hope that the character they're asking about is adopted or lives with other family members... That's why it's taken me so long to answer this, because I just genuinely do not have the right words to explain what about it makes me uneasy.
I'm very glad you've found happiness and have had a positive adoption. I recognise that you didn't write this with any intent to make me uncomfortable and I hope you understand that you did nothing wrong here. I would just ask that you remember that this sort of experience (adoption/fostering) is very impactful to a person's life one way or another. Somewhat like if someone wrote an author asking if one of their character's (one you know nothing about or if they really exist) mother was murdered and it turns out that the author's mother was murdered. It can be a trauma and it's one of those things that I personally think shouldn't be thrown around casually.
