Happy holidays to my @lesmiserablessecretsanta @sapphic-lenaoxton!!! I played around with about ten different ideas and I ended up settling on Cosette/Grantaire working backstage at a holiday show! The two festive figures in the back are Eponine and Floreal!
Since art obviously isn’t my strongest skill (that’s a table with a sewing machine and fabric!) I also wrote a little drabble (with bonus Marius/Enjolras)!
“Your boyfriend’s over by act two’s backdrop.” Floreal said as soon as Cosette stepped back into the school’s auditorium. Gavroche and Grantaire’s sister had roped her into helping with costumes back in November and now it was crunch time. Floreal, Eponine and a small handful of other teachers were surprising their students with a truly horrendous compilation of Holiday Classics. Both her friends were currently sporting their costumes while they waited for the others to show up. Cosette took the coffee she had just picked up (and if she had known they would be here as well, she would have picked up more) and went over to Grantaire who had Marius and Enjolras helping him with the backdrop. It was possible that Grantaire had panicked and called them all for help, in which case he had probably texted the group and they were about to be swarmed. She took a sip of her coffee before anyone could swoop in and steal it.
Marius and Enjolras were being disgustingly adorable with paint on the tips of their noses and Enjolras trying to concentrate while Marius failed to hide laughter. Seeing this, she didn’t feel too bad about only bringing coffee back for Grantaire.
Grantaire looked up from the Christmas tree he was painting and his smile was blinding, “I was wondering where you’d gone.”
“When I left it was just the two of us.”
“Hey, Cosette.” Marius greeted, grinning broadly and then he indicated Enjolras’ ass. For a moment Cosette was confused and then she noticed the handprint and she giggled. Enjolras glanced over and she waved.
“He doesn’t know, does he?” she asked from the corner of her mouth and Grantaire snorted into his drink.
“I’m about to fire the both of them, honestly.”
“Oh be nice, love, they’re trying.”
“Courfeyrac would be preferable and you know how he loves his glitter.”
“The decorations could use some more, actually.” Cosette tapped an ornament and he groaned.
“Not you too.”
Cosette grinned and slipped him his mocha. He inhaled half of it immediately.
“So Ep and Flo gave us a preview and take whatever you’re thinking and multiply it by fifty. It’s somehow worse than the entire Gilmore Girls revival.”
“I think that’s the first time I’ve ever heard you say the word multiply.” She said, skipping right over the Gilmore Girls dig.
“We’re breaking up,” he informed her quietly, sipping his double shot white chocolate mocha (the double shot was Musichetta’s idea and Cosette knew he was going to be up all night on principle if he realized). Cosette laughed and leaned down to kiss him. Grantaire pulled her scarf off and pulled it on.
“Don’t get paint on that, it’s my favorite.”
He made a show of putting the brush down to focus on the coffee, “are you nearly done?”
“Mostly.” She glanced over to her work table, and the small pile of fabric left, “I have some last minute fittings and then I just need to make three more dresses for the teachers but I made Floreal’s in, what? Two episodes of Grey’s?”
“I can finally have my girlfriend back.” Grantaire sighed, causing Cosette to rolled her eyes--he was never more than ten feet away from her when they watched TV and she sewed.
She took another sip of her mocha, smiling wide and then Eponine called her, “Sophie’s here!”
“I’ll see you later.” Cosette kissed Grantaire’s cheek.
“You’re table is literally five feet from me,” he grumbled.
“See you in the fall!” She called and Grantaire grumbled something about accidentally dying his hair blue and never living down the Hades comparisons that made both Enjolras and Marius laugh.
Cosette smiled into her drink and then got pulled into helping Sophie learn the dance moves (they really did exceed all her expectations) while taking measurements and getting started on the dress.
bpdnataliegoodman replied to your post “what’s that place everyone gets their tumblr themes from? i might...”
The theme hunter blog is rly good ! (I can't remember the exact URL but I think it's theme-hunter or smth, a quick Google search probably will bring it up)
this is the specific one I was looking for, thank you!
