NetGalley Catch Ups!
Most of the time, when I’m behind on writing up my book reviews, it’s because I didn’t care for the book or just didn’t feel like bothering to write up a review that might not even make a difference. NOT THE CASE THIS TIME! This time, I was so immersed in all of these very good, very different books I was allowed to read off of NetGalley, that I’ve had to pull myself away from reading just to do my reviews---so here you go!
The Favor by Nora Murphy
Leah and McKenna are two women who don’t know each other at all, and yet they are living very similar lifestyles in very similar homes, in very similar neighborhoods very close to one another. So when Leah’s husband is killed in a very similar manner to how McKenna’s husband was killed, how many coincidences can there possibly be? I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and even if it is a bit far fetched, that didn’t detract from my race to get to the finish!

Two Nights in Lisbon by Chris Pavone
When Ariel wakes up in her hotel room in Lisbon and finds her husband missing, it turns out to be a much more serious thing than him just running out for an early coffee. When she gets the call that someone is holding him for ransom, everything changes for Ariel in the blink of an eye. Being in a foreign country, not knowing who to trust, Ariel finds herself fighting to get her husband back---no matter what it costs. I’ve never read anything by this author and wasn’t too sure about this one, but boy---was I WRONG! Fast-paced, interesting, and smart! I couldn’t put it down!

Meant to Be by Emily Giffin
Joe and Cate grow up with very different backgrounds, but manage to find their lives intertwined anyway. And when they meet, that’s it---everything that came before and everything that comes after no longer matters, because they are Meant To Be. A fictional account loosely based on JFK Jr. and his wife, I still found it hard to put down, with Giffin’s writing style and attention to detail as fabulous as always.

The Dinner Guest by BP Walter
When Charlie and Matthew find themselves having to include the young woman they’ve just met into their inner circle, it all seems a bit sudden and off-putting to Charlie. Matthew, on the other hand, welcomes Rachel and has no problem including her---almost as if she were family. So what’s the story here? Very unique storyline, and although there are some holes, it’s still very much worth the read. Un-put-down-able!

Watch Out for Her by Samantha M. Bailey
When Sarah and Daniel hire Holly to babysit for their six-year-old son, they end up inviting a lot more than just a babysitter into their home. Tensions mount when both Sarah and Holly start keeping secrets, especially when they find they can’t trust one-another. So who’s the “bad guy” here? Who’s in the wrong? And when the answers all come to light, who will end up with more problems than either could’ve imagined? I enjoyed reading this book very much and found myself flying through the pages. Although some of the writing was a little rough at times and the ending didn’t come out as clean as I would’ve preferred, it was still some great fun when it comes to suspense!
