I LOVE when a song sends me into a daydream spiral - unfortunately it doesn’t happen all that often because I am too busy singing/dancing along😅 But while I was writing The Softness of Flames, I basically had “My Man on Willpower” by Sabrina Carpenter on permanent loop.
It perfectly captured the mood of those chapters where Elain is throwing herself at Lucien thinking he must want her because the mating bond is driving her crazy - and he does, but he is also trying so hard not to give in because she doesn’t have her heart and he doesn’t want anything that happens with his mate to be meaningless. Cue angst, misunderstanding, and self-restraint verging on torture!! Haha.
