American Idol Season 11 alum Deandre Brackensick and Postmodern Jukebox have teamed up to give Ariana Grande’s “Side to Side” a ’70 soul treatment.
“DeAndre’s smooth R&B tones and wide vocal range brings to mind greats like Marvin Gaye and Al Green, so it made sense to take this tune back to the ’70s for a bit of sensual soul, mixed with a hint of reggae,” Postmodern Jukebox leader Scott Bradlee shared on his website.
Brackensick — who entertained during his Idol run with soulful covers of Stevie Wonder — was lauded by then judge Randy Jackson as the “most commercial” singer that season.
The San Jose, California native shows off his falsetto — as well as his luscious locks — in the clip. Postmodern Jukebox continues to tour into 2017, including just announced tour dates with a cappella group, Straight No Chaser.
