"What" he cried jumping to his feet. "They had no right..." Seeing her stricken face he stuffed the rest of his words down "I'm sorry. It's just you didn't plan for any of this to happen."

"That's what Peter said but they kept saying it was negligence on my part that opened the door for Adam's enemies to orchestrate his demise." Holding her head in her hand "if I wasn't so single minded in wanting to find a solution to Gabriel's problem's maybe I would have done thing differently. If I weren't so obsessed."

Taking her hands "what could you have done differently?"

"I could have kept my research locked in a secure place instead casually leaving it on the kitchen table for anyone to see." Shaking her hair back "I hadn't thought I was doing anything wrong. Now looking back I can see it so clearly."

Gathering her in his arms "let's go home."

Snorting a little "we are home."

Two more chapters left and this gen is over. Hopefully the next gen wont be as long or as heavy but we shall see. I’ll have this queued up starting tomorrow. "Honey" Brad sighed upon seeing Brie curled up on the couch crying. With a feeling of trepidation he joined her.

"It's my fault" she sobbed crying on his shoulder. "If I hadn't brought the research home with me none of this would have happened."

"You made a mistake" he stroked her long soft hair her body trembling against his.

"Someone died because of that mistake" she cried pulling away from him. "Because of me Peter is heart broken. He's the greatest man I know and a I broke him."

Watching her pace he knew there wasn't much he could say to make her feel better. He had to at least try. "Brie come sit" he held his hand out to her. "I know you're upset. I know what happened was awful. A much loved well respected man died..."

Looking at him with bloodshot swollen eyes. "I lost my job" she gulped. "I'm lucky that Peter convinced the Elders to let me leave Moonlight Falls. They wanted to bring me up on charges..."

"No I meant home to Sunlit Tides" hugging her tight "you've done all you can here."

Sighing "even if I wasn't they'd never let me continue."

"Not to mention the crazies might be for revenge" he pointed out "I'd feel better if we weren't here."

A small smile crept across her face. "Let's go home" leaning into him a feeling of safety washing over her. "I want to have a child around all our family and friends."

Pulling back a little to look into her eyes. "Are you?"

Nodding she gave him her first happy smile since this nightmare began "I'm pregnant and I want to go home."

Stepping from the shower she wrapped a towel around herself before drying her hair and applying fresh makeup. Throwing her arms into the fresh lab coat she let the towel drop from around her body. Entering the kitchen she decided to work on the material she'd brought home. She stared in horror at the empty table. Where had her research gone? "Brad" she called sure he was playing a trick on her. "Brad this isn't funny" she shouted as she went through the house searching for him.

Her phone had her running back to the kitchen to answer it. "Hello" she snapped at whoever it was on the other end.

"Where are you" Brad asked.

"What do you mean where am I" she demanded "I'm at home."

"Didn't you see my note" he asked. "I left it on the table where I was sure you'd see it."

Frowning she glared at the empty table. "It's not there" she groused. "Oh wait" she bent to pick up something "meet at the hospital. It's baby time."

Brad leaned against the door arms crossed observing the girl bent over a microscope. "You forgot" his voice was loud inside the lab.

"Don't do that" she cried jerking at the sound of his voice.

"Do what" he demanded his tone belligerent. "Talk to my girlfriend? Want to go on a date with my girlfriend? Want to have a conversation with her that doesn't involve..." He waved a hand around to encompass the room "this."

She gave him a blank stare "what are you talking about? We talk. Go out."

"Yeah we talk" he snorted "we talk about the experiments. We talk about what we're going to try next." He took a step inside the room "do you know what we don't talk about?"

Arching an eyebrow "that wasn't what I meant. If anything I was being kind."

"You are asking for it" she laughed.

"Asking for what? A kiss" he grinned a hopeful gleam in his eyes.

"If you want a kiss from this ugly old cow" she leaned on her tip toes.

"How can I refuse such an invitation" he pulled her close as their lips locked together.

"I know finding a solution is important" his tone soothing "but Andrew and Gabriel wouldn't want you to forget about living your life."

"I'm not" she protested.

Giving her one of those 'get real looks' he said "when was the last time you ate anything that didn't come from a box? When was the last time you went to have your hair done? Or even a manicure?"

"I've been busy..."

He clenched his fists as he felt his frustration grow "I'm beginning to feel like I'm just another one of those you're to busy to do."
