The fact the cell signal had cut out worked in -A’s favour as it meant Xanthe couldn’t text Brad to tell him she was stuck. She’d found some sort of trace when she was snooping through police files and thought they could use it to track -A’s computer. They also couldn’t rule it out completely and they wanted to make sure Xanthe was given a good enough reason to really take their threats seriously now. She seemed to still be snooping into their business. It would also be good to get Brad alone. He was getting too pushy, looking into things he shouldn’t, putting bugs in police computers that -A hadn’t been able to remove as of yet. He needed to stay out of it, mind his business, or they’d end up hurting his loser sister or pretty bride-to-be if he wasn’t careful. First though, they were going after him. Waiting behind a tree, the winds really picking up by now, they waited for Brad to show. They only had a minor plan in mind. Brad needed to be knocked down a few pegs. He wanted the chase, fine, they’d give him a chase... but he wouldn’t be the one crossing the finish line.

Xanthe had thought of nothing but Brad’s proposal since he asked her at the restaurant building. She was distracted at work and at home she was just.. she didn’t like feeling like she had no control and that’s what it was like. It was like a loss of control, it was too big a commitment. Her father had wound up a scum-bag and her mother had been a screw-up and they’d fucked each other up and her sister had ended up miserable because their mother had been so clueless. She didn’t want to make any mistakes like that. Everything changed when you got married and Xanthe didn’t feel she was cut out for it at all. Did she even want it? It hadn’t been something she’d ever thought about. Feelings were more than she wanted in general, something so permanent and serious as getting married had never been on her radar. It was probably a way of keeping herself safe in some respects but.. also, since Bella, she just couldn’t stand the idea of getting close to people. Brad had been such an accident. A good one but.. she’d never intended for any of it. And now he wanted to get married and she was so confused but she’d been thinking a lot and she supposed she was ready to give him an answer. She waited in her apartment for him to get back from the dance, holding onto a glass of wine and messing around on her laptop.
