Bradok Journal Entry #8

From the perspective of the PCs in our D&D game of Storm King’s Thunder, here’s some insight into their experiences. From our Dwarven fighter, Bradok:

I was only supposed to take my goods to Daggerford. That was the simplest task I had ever been given. Rallo knew the way, he had been there plenty of times before. That might have been my first mistake. I allowed my mind to wander and in a flash I found myself and my cart on the side of the road having almost run over some damnable old wizard. The old fool wouldn’t stop yammering about being in his way. That argument turned into another discussion with two other travelers. A druid and a cleric of some kind. Before long there was the young inn keep with the missing boy and in no time I found myself helping the other three, look for the boy. That was weeks and weeks ago. Now I find myself in the flying tower of a sky giant headed to Bryn Shander. Bryn Shander of all places! I’ve no idea what comes next but I do wish to see it resolved shortly. There is some great sundering amongst the giants and that's led to some turmoil in the north. I suppose it’s better that I am here than someone else less apt for the task. Without me these wholly unprepared people wouldn’t have survived the town of Nightstone. One of them, the elf Bravoquarx, actually charged forward in front of some of the riders attacking the town.

Bradok Journal Entry #7

From the perspective of the PCs in our D&D game of Storm King’s Thunder, here’s some insights into their experiences. From our Dwarven fighter, Bradok Gripbriar:

There are days I genuinely love my new home. Of course it’s far from the home of my ancestors and I may never return, but there is very little I can do to change that. So, here I am, far to the south and needing to make a new life for myself. To be honest it’s not all bad. I have my own home. It may be on the farm of my neighbor but I keep his land safe and in return he allows me to stay. It’s a fine home, with a solid roof and four strong walls. I have Rallo and he is loyal to a fault as long as I keep feeding him the cabbage he loves. Despite the god awful bouts of gas it gives him. Besides that I keep a nice garden, help the farmer bring in his crops, and keep the wolves at bay. I’ve even gotten to where I look over my shoulder less. Just the other week I caught myself napping out in front of my house. It was the damnedest thing. I simply sat down in my chair I keep out by the rain barrel, relaxed, and away I went. Maybe I’m growing soft. Probably need some grand quest to rejuvenate myself. I’ve recently taken a contract to move some goods to Daggerford; it should be a dawdle.

Bradok Journal Entry #6

From the perspective of the PCs in our D&D game of Storm King’s Thunder, here’s an insight into their experiences. From our Dwarven fighter, Bradok Gripbriar:

There are times when I let my mind wander. Usually its when I’m hauling goods from one town to another. People hire me because they know I’ve fought monsters before, killed the odd menacing boar or wolf here or there, but there is very rarely any trouble. It was one of these such trips where I tried to recollect my last night in Citadel Adbar. My home was cold and I was ready for bed. The fire, having long gone out ensured my main room was well and truly dark when they came. They came in all at once, someone gave them the key. I had just enough time to grab my axe. In those days my home was, in my mind, tastefully appointed, but some have said it was cluttered. The clutter played to my advantage. As they picked their way around the furniture I was able to sweep wide around one of them and catch him from behind a low broad swipe that caught him just below the ribs and bit deep into his organs. For reasons I’m sure I will never know, the attackers chose not to wear any armor that night. Maybe they thought I would be an easy kill. None of them are left to answer me. The second dwarf, no one I knew but a front-line dwarf from the tunnel guard, died to a downward blow to the left side of his face. I had meant to aim for his neck. To give him a quick, clean death, but at the last moment he crouched down a bit and my axe caught him just above his cheek bone. The sucking and gurgling sound he made as he fell stays with me even today. The other 6 fell quickly enough but for the life of me their deaths are a blur now. Only those first two remain. Every detail of them remains. Their faces, the surprised and sad look on the first one as his life faded and the hollow sucking, gasping for air that the second one made after I split the side of his face open. Both faces are forever frozen in shock and regret. They knew the risks, I only hope someday I can forget them.

Bradok Journal Entry #5

From the perspective of our PCs in our D&D game of Storm King’s Thunder, here’s an insight into their experiences. From our Dwarven fighter, Bradok Gripbriar:

It’s been two months since my last entry. I've been meaning to get back to this but things have grown busy. I made it to Sowwallow after a few weeks. Once there I found that the rumors about the town were correct. The town is barely more than a wide spot in the road and there can't be more than a few hundred people here. I’ve established myself as an adventurer looking to retire and I've taken the name Gripbriar to replace my old name. The Bradok Gripbriar that these people know is here to help, here to make his new home a better place. I've been doing that for months now. I’ve seen no sign of any Dwarves from Adbar, maybe they've given up the search.

Bradok Journal Entry #4

From the perspective of our PCs in our D&D game of Storm King’s Thunder, here’s an insight into what they have experienced. From our Dwarven fighter, Bradok Gripbriar:

I’ve neglected this journal for a few weeks but now that i'm in Waterdeep I have found some time. The journey south was more or less uneventful my original passage only took me as far as Yartar, after doing some work for the Waterbaron there I was able to buy a small boat of my own and continue on south by the Dessarin River. Moving downstream sped the journey up a great deal and before long I was able to make it to Waterdeep. I sold the boat and found some rest at an Inn in the slums of the town. I’ve been keeping a very low profile for the past few days. Consulting maps of the area has led me to a small town just outside of a place called Daggerford. People here say its rather small and it seems far enough out of the way that no one may ever look for me there. Tomorrow I will make for the town of Sowwallow.
