I know Malamar picked Emmet solely for his strength and determination, so it wouldn't necessarily know about his relationship with Corbeau, but it's killing me because fighting through Rust Syndicate isn't even necessary in this case (not necessary for Malamar, anyway- it is necessary for us readers and The Vibe though lol). It possessed the one guy that could just easily waltz into Corbeau's office whenever he wanted.

Corbeau letting Emmet in during a brief break between meetings/paperwork/whatever, leaning up to get a kiss from him....and then suddenly feeling a hand around his throat.

YEAH malamar literally chose the best choice tbh bc at this point, corbeau would have been convinced (though slightly confused) if mr. gray asked him to leave the office and meet him somewhere or in this case, wouldn’t have patted an eye at emmet if he were to approach his desk

it would be interesting to see how far emmet would go in pursuit of his goal as he just needs to meet corbeau so he can take him somewhere. who knows how much force emmet would use if corbeau were to fight back 👀

not really! he believes his goal is exactly the thing he wants to do; any actual reasons why he shouldn’t be doing it are completely incomprehensible to him (he’s not even aware of malamar really; questions like why the pokemon is even there or why are people upset at his objective are irrelevant)

he’s enjoying battling and winning and doing everything in his power to complete his objective! :)
