he had not been entirely surprised by the High Summoner's visit. since the news of her apparent rising in the ranks of Bevelle had reached his ears, he had subconsciously been expecting a visit. perhaps it had been too presumptuous of to expect such a thing, but expect such a thing he had. there were a number of reasons for such a thing; the farplane, to repair relationships between guado and human, to reclaim a home that, by marriage, rightfully belonged to her.
he had been right on one of those things, it seemed.
he had greeted her with the warmth and openness as he had the first time they had met, but perhaps with a more personal touch. his bow was deeper, he'd had her own room made up, a nice meal prepared. they had ate in comfortable companionship, talking about small things, never delving beneath the surface on most, until it came to the truth of why Yuna had graced him with her presence. it had been late by that point, and Tromell had felt tiredness pulling at his mind, and saw the weariness within Yuna's face. he had touched on a few points that were concerning to him, but had also made it a point that they could discuss this in further detail in the morning when they were both better rested. Yuna had agreed, althought Tromell wasn't completely sure she agreed on the matter.
that was, until he found her door ajar and panic had swept through him. he had spoken to the members of the household that were still awake, and a handful in Guadosalam, all of them pointing in the direction of the unstable Farplane. further panic had swept through him and he had let out a warbling moan at the realisation of where she had gone. that place was dangerous enough for the Guado to approach right now, let alone any who were unaccustomed to the mass of pyreflies that the Farplane was trying to contain.
Yevon help him, if the High Summoner was found dead anywhere near the Farplane, the citizens of Spira would consider it blood on the Guado's hands. he was sure it would mean the end of the Guado permenantly. they'd had a tumotulous relationship with the rest of Spira since the actions of their late Maester, and if anything happened to Yuna, he dreaded to think of the uproar there'd be. the Guado would not live long enough to see the restoration of the Farplane. he prayed to Yevon that Yuna was in good enough shape and had not tried to traverse too far in.
thankfully, when he arrived, he could tell that she had not traversed far into the depths of the Farplane. his hands had been clasped around the blanket he'd brought within him, for the Farplane could be mild at the best of times. it was more for the young woman who had dared tried to help. Tromell could make out a hazy outline of the former sphere hunter, kneeling down on the floor and alive (or so he hoped). it was only then that his pace slowed, though it had not been fast to being with. the pyreflies that danced around her shoulders dispersed as he approached, placing the blanket around her shoulders. he offered a soft, but small, smile as she looked up at him. the panicky feeling slowly dispersing. his expression softened still as she recounted that she could not sleep. the disapproval of her being out here without a Guado guide dying on his lips.
"My lady..." he could not help with the formalities. regardless of how much people protested, he would forever be respectful enough to offer such titles to people. he goes to help her prop herself up, but his hands never make contact with her. he hesitates. he straightens back up, his gaze drifting over to the entrance of the Farplane. the sight of it makes him sad. the Guado had been talking about restoring it. they needed to. for the safety of not only those that called Guadosalam their home, but for the rest of Spira. without the proper protections in place, the Farplane would continue to seep out into the wider world, and the Farplane would continue to grow weaker and weaker. without any place to go, the pyreflies would roam Spira with disastrous results.
"My lady," he spoke again, though it was not without a sense of gratitude this time. "I mean this with no disrespect, but I'm afraid there is not much you can do." this was said with a sense of sadness. he was grateful that she had even offered to help in the first place. not many had offered their services in hopes of restoring the Farplane to it's former glory. whether it be of hatred to the Guado, a lack of knowledge on how to fix the problem, or fear of getting too close. Tromell would have sat by her side, but he feared he would not get back up again. "The Guado have coverted the knowledge of how to keep the Farplane stable for generations. It is something only we are privy to, as the magics that are needed to restore the balance have been taught to us since we were children. I fear the Guado would not be happy with me teaching that knowledge to anyone that isn't half Guado at the very least." he remembered getting taught it when he was a children. his wife had talked about getting taught it. he had witnessed and even helped teach children about it.
"In order to restore the balance to the Farplane, we would need as many Guado that know these magics as possible." his panic was replaced by sadness. "But I fear there may be too few of us left in Guadosalam to restore the balance quickly as I'd once hoped." he could start it now, if he wished. he had wanted to. but their progress would be slow. it would take them months to restore it and he wasn't certain if they had that much time before the Farplane grew much worse.
