Wasn't a big fan of Independence Day and I refuse to watch the sequel but this guy is 24/7 in my brain lately. I love him

The “Star Trek: The Next Generation” Actor Brent Spiner (Android Lieutenant Commander Data) as Dr. Brakish Okun 1996 during the filming of „Independence Day“.

Consider: area 51 husbands in comfy sweaters, snuggling, and holding cups of hot chocolate (with lots of whipped cream for Brackish bc I feel like he'd be the type to empty half the can in his drink) inside while there's a snow storm outside :)
Oh oh! This is a good image! Maybe they get clearance to go out on a rare (very rare) reconnaissance survey, and they swing it my ensuring that they are completely isolated.
“Up in the mountains, yes sir. 30 clicks from any humans. perfect for viewing the atmospheric anomaly.” (Isaacs does all the talking because anything from Okun just sounds like a bid for freedom.)
So they get clearance for the two of them to drive (with escort) up to a cabin at the far edge of a forest reserve, high on a mountain (there really is science to do, obvs) for two weeks.
And it all goes well, lots of science to record, and they’re expected to radio EVERY HOUR with updates. They get a little time to relax together , but most of that is reduced to literally just sleeping next to each other for the few hours they can grab at a time.
Until the snowstorm rolls in and the radio transceiver is blocked at they just simply cant fix it (even though they try really really really hard *snort*) and that’s how they end up with two days entirely to themselves as the wind howls outside and there’s simply no more science to do to keep themselves occupied.
And Milton makes the best hot chocolate. And despite that Brakish still uses up the entire can of cream in the first day. Although to be fair not all of that is on hot chocolate (a fair amount ends up on Milton when the cabin gets too hot with the open fire and they start stripping down.)
And Brakish is glad he remembered extra film for the in-field polaroid camera, and if anyone asks they lost the film in the storm. They make the best memories there, and Milton sneaks back the personal photos among his dirty laundry (Okun isn’t trusted and literally every inch of his person and luggage is inspected make sure he isn’t sneaking in anything)
Brakish wants the photos framed, but Milton insists on keeping them in an album , so they don’t fade. Years later, when the photos are all he has of better times, he’s glad he kept them so safe.
I really wanna draw something about Milton and Brakish and exercise. Like Brakish doesn’t particular care for exercise (he can barely remember to eat sometimes, so a workout regime is just not going to happen). But Milton is sensible, and since they cant really leave area 51 anymore he likes to hit the gym at least a few times a week, just to stay in shape.
Now usually Brakish avoids the place like the plague because, during the day at least, it’s loud and smelly and full of military-types being brusque and competitive. But maybe he really needs to talk to Milton about something. Maybe some experiment has churned out some unexpected results in the middle of the nigh and it just cant wait so he goes bolting down to the gym, waving papers and yelling.
“Isaacs!! Isaacs! You’ve gotta see this it’s-”
And the usually excitable Dr. Okun, who on a minute by minute basis just will not shut up for love nor money, is struck silent. Blushing from chest to hairline, he can’t seem to find his words again.
“What is it, Brakish?” Milton’s voice is clipped and distracted as he curls the barbell with some difficulty, brows drawn together in concentration. He’s the only one in the gym at that time of the morning, which is just how he likes it because honestly he’s not overly keen on all the military types either. He’s not there looking for rippling abs and a 5% body fat. He just wants to stay healthy in a job that is not conducive to an athletic lifestyle.
Of course at that point - biceps straining, shoulder bulging and chest tense under the sleeveless training vest - he looks miles away from the usual pale, skinny unkempt scientist (*coughOkuncough*) a lot of them were down there.
“I...uh...there’s...uh...” And Brakish still can’t make a sentence, and that at last is enough to draw Milton’s attention. He drops the bar back onto the rack before he looks over curiously. Brakish is bright red and wide eyed, papers held forgotten at his side.
“Is that-?” Milton obviously knows they were running an experiment and his interested is piqued. He grabs his towel and wipes the sweat off his face as he makes his way over, taking the results eagerly. It’s not that he’s blind to the effect he’s having on Brakish it’s just... well... there’s science to read.
He flicks through the results, a grin breaking across his face as they stay in silence (which is extremely unusual because usually Brakish would be talking a mile a minute, summarizing everything in the papers as Milton reads and digests it). But the results are amazing and so exciting and it means that they’re this close to a breakthrough and-!
“Dr. Okun these results are amazing!”
“You smell so good.”
And Brakish’s brain just makes him blurt out the first thing on his mind because apparently if he stays silent to long that’s just a thing that happens and his eyes get even wider in utter horror at himself.
And they stare at each other in dead quiet for many long moments before Milton cracks up laughing because, honestly, he’s flattered. He knows Brakish loves science more than he’ll ever love him, and that’s fine. Brakish loves science so much Milton never feels like the love he gets second is ever lacking.
But in that moment, Brakish can’t even focus on the amazing experimental results (that have just come to fruition better than any of their hypotheses could anticipate.)
Right then the only thing on his mind was Milton.
“You know, I think before we go back to the lab, I need a shower,” Milton said diplomatically, handing the papers back to Brakish so he can pick up his gym stuff. “And you know, Dr. Okun, you’re not looking so fresh yourself, Maybe you’d like to join me?”
