I know cardinals are some sort of religious figure (I’m assuming Catholic??) and that conclaves are kinda secretive meetings to vote on the new pope???? (Correct me if I’m wrong) that’s all I know :D

Do they need to have like… a certain genre of personality? I’m also assuming they wear a specific type of clothing (I can look that up). How does one go about designing a cardinal persona??? 😭😭😭

The only idea I’ve got so far is just embracing that cluelessness and making it a part of the character lol. I dunno man, I just got here by messing around and finding out. I’m playing uno at a poker game

Yes! cardinals are Catholic figures high up in the Church's hierarchy, and they can be either archbishops or bishops of certain dioceses, aka specific sectors of a country/state.

And you're correct about conclaves! Basically, the College of Cardinals (basically just all the cardinals) isolate themselves away from anything that can influence their judgement of their fellow candidates for pope. These conclaves last until a single cardinal has the majority vote of 2/3rds.

They don't need a specific personality! You can make your cardinal have whatever personality you want—they can be mean, they can be nice, anything is fine! And yes, they do have specific vestments for different situations (I'll attach some pictures below the cut.)

I fully encourage you to make them as clueless as you want. Make them absolutely oblivious to conclave drama, the latest gossip, everything! Hell, make them not know if they even want to be there, lol. It's all up to you.

I'm pretty sure there's nothing culturally offensive! I obviously don't speak for all Catholics, but as a Catholic, I personally don't get offended by a little bit of blasphemy. Some Catholics are just too strict about things! Like, jeez, it's life, it's not that serious... But basically don't like be toooooooo blasphemous, like, I dunno, the Devil will overtake Heaven and whatnot. Sorry for getting a little off-topic, but the best way I can put it is that it's a two-way street, really, as long as you respect what I believe in, I'll respect you! But yeah there's not that many offensive things. Another thing: Church officials can definitely be shady at times, I jest.

And for your last thing—there's no official naming system for Cardinals. Give 'em whatever name you want. Even Lucifer is fine, haha. Trust me! There's nothing to worry about :D
