haven’t had a lot of time to play, but i got my gal brandellyn up to level 80! again she’s so cute

Tell me more about Brandellyn! :) what made drove her to become a therapist for the Pact? What was she before? Is she satisfied in her work?

Okay! Alright! So in an unusual twist for one of my characters, Brandellyn actually dreamed of helping people as a healer, and when she awoke, she wanted to follow that calling. She wanted to help!!! She first tried becoming a mender, but she couldn't even remotely get a grasp for the magic menders usually use to treat injuries, and while she could handle the science side of it and go through the appropriate processes of wound cleaning and care, she couldn't get a handle on healing magic even remotely. But while she was struggling with this, she ended up speaking to a traveler from another city, who mentioned therapy offhandedly to her. From there, Brandellyn looks more into the concept, then sets her mind to the field and leaves the Grove to go to school specifically to become a therapist. She knows that even just the sylvari around her are struggling with mental health issues and she wants to help how she can. She signs up to the Pact pretty quickly after she gets certified, thinking that's probably a place where a lot of people are going to need someone in her field, and she isn't wrong.

Her drive is equal parts fulfilling what she saw in the Dream, and seeing how many people around her have some level of anxiety or ptsd caused by living in a world where there's dragons waking up and trying to destroy everything. This path has really been her whole life so far. She's only a couple years older than a canon sylvari commander, and doesn't join the Pact until some time around the end of the Zhaitan Campaign.

And Brandellyn is very satisfied with her work, yeah! It can be really hard at times, when she can't treat every single person alone and some people aren't willing to come get the help they need, but every person she does see improve and make progress is a huge victory in her mind. She loves her job, and if the pact ever reaches a point of not needing her, she'll find another place to settle and keep doing the same work.

6. is your oc comfortable with themselves? Absolutely not! Having to spend all day pretending to be someone they aren’t just so they don’t get replaced. They don’t even know who they really are, besides faulty and wrong.

13. are they more accepting or more controlling of the people in their life? During the rare moments when they aren’t on the job and having to keep a mask up, Mar is super accepting of other people, in and out of their life. On the job, they just seem apathetic.

20. are they vengeful? No, just protective.

28. do people think they’re pretentious? Oh 100% everyone who meets them as the commander and doesn’t know what they are (a perfect soldier and living vessel of the Dream’s will, unfeeling and prepared for anything), which is most people, thinks they are just incredibly pretentious and cold.

32. which one of the 7 deadly sins fit your oc more? do they see it as a flaw? Envy, and yes, they do see it as a flaw. They shouldn’t even be able to want, and yet...

6. is your oc comfortable with themselves? They’re figuring it out, but no, they’re not really comfortable with themself. They’re still having a hard time coming to terms with their inherent worth as a person.

13. are they more accepting or more controlling of the people in their life? Aildyn is pretty accepting, to an almost harmful degree, letting the wrong sorts of people into their life at times and not being sure what’s normal or how to handle it.

20. are they vengeful? Yes, absolutely.

28. do people think they’re pretentious? Less pretentious and more just incredibly intimidating and threatening. They’re a big softy, but Aildyn looks so severe and their known history as a former nightmare courtier doesn’t help their image.

32. which one of the 7 deadly sins fit your oc more? do they see it as a flaw? [Answered here] but yeah, as I said, Sloth. They’re prone to avoidance and laziness and only really seek to change this when it hurts others, not when it only hurts them.

4. is your oc respectful of others? She is incredibly respectful and professional, yeah. She keeps her secret lil shit habits tucked down.

5. is your oc imaginative or more down-to-earth? Brandellyn is pretty damn down to earth. She likes practical skills with practical applications and practical work. But she absolutely admires imagination in others. She enjoys hearing it, even if she doesn’t share in it herself.

6. is your oc comfortable with themselves? A small side effect of her studying therapy was her having to get really comfortable with herself and figure out who she was, so she could really help others figure out themselves and work through their problems.

7. does your oc plan things and stick to it or do they make it up as their go? She’s the sort to have a loose plan to try and follow with the expectation that things are going to go wildly different than she could ever anticipate. She does a lot of making it up as she goes, in all aspects of her life.
