This song relates to the film Bridget Jones' Diary. Money is the topic in both works, and money is what runs the world. This video shows expensive cars and big homes, which is what most people desire in life. It focuses on showing love by buying material things. T.I. (the artist in the song) just throws money and products at his girl in the video to show affection. He wants her to know that everything will be alright as long as he still has money.

This quote in the song stands out to me because it goes against the "Mr. Perfect", Romeo and Juliet perception that the media has. Most little girls dream of the knight in shining armor, but Beyonce is telling us that she'd rather have a "bad ass" (for lack of a better word). Most girls are taught by their parents to avoid bad boys, but she may be implying that some girls want to go against the precedent and feel more protected from a "rougher" man. A guy like Romeo may come off as weak and a lover boy, but Beyonce is proclaiming that she'd rather have a strong, tough man rather than a man who won't be able to protect her.

This is an interesting article because it comes back to one of the main pieces of our class - Romeo and Juliet. The article makes an intriguing point about the reference to youthfullness in Shakespeare's play, and the two movies made about the Shakespearean travesty. "More specifically, as Garber argues, we make Shakespeare's young lovers speak to our current understanding of youth culture." The movie shows us the immaturities that take us about to Shakespeare's original play and the immaturity that characterizes its' protagonists.
