32: Talk about a place you remember from your childhood.

Okay, so I lived in this small, poor town until I was about nine, and the thing about the house I lived in was that it sucked. I mean, it was a two bedroom house that had seen better days, and I have four older siblings. My sister and I shared a room with my parents and my three brothers shared the room down the hall. The reason I mention all that is because this made me really appreciate the backyard and I swear I would move back right now just for that.

We basically had two backyards, I like to say, because the “second yard” was separated by a fence and a wall of cactus. In the second yard, there was overgrown, yellow grass everywhere and it was pretty intimidating the first time you ventured back there because it was essentially another place entirely, a forest really. My sister and I used to explore and spend all of our time back there, there are so many good memories.

Okay, so. When you first go through the gate, to the left there were several giant plum trees and bushes we used to get lost in (I remember there was this beaten path I used to lay in and stare up at the leaves from), straight ahead there was a long grapevine and a peach (or an apricot?) tree we used to climb in (and there used to be a trampoline in the center but my sister fell off one time so..), and to the right there was this huge tree full of these tiny, orange fruits that I never learned the name of and a shed, several more trees (apples oranges?), and also a group of white lilies that I fell in love with every day. It was crazy because no one ever watered these trees or fruit that I remember and they grew and grew and just prospered. The grass was a burnt yellow and they prospered.

It was this amazing, beautiful place in such a terrible house, I can’t even explain how much it meant to me. Even the cactus is something I remember fondly, everything about it was like something from a dream, really lovely place ✿~

Thanks! I was oddly calm the whole day, which, of course, worried me because I always freak out over interviews and then convince myself I won't get the gig, which, in turn, comes true because I'm a stupid idiot.

But, I start next week.

I always thought I was 5'5 but Allison insists I'm 5'7 for some reason. I'm okay with it. It makes me feel taller. c:

haha I didn’t think you were much taller than sariah and she insists she’s 5’2” although I think she’s 5’3” or 5’4”. I believe my last height check at the doctors told me I was 5’8” but I actually think I’m 5’9”. All I know for certain is that I have exactly 3’ of leg from hip to floor. XD

What’s Allison? Cause I’m like an inch shorter than her. I’d definately put you closer to 5’5” to be honest. I suppose I could always whip out the tape measure when we get together next.

5. What’s your favorite thing to draw?

Oh man this is going to sound terrible but I really like drawing butts. Like drawing butts is one of my favorite things because of the shape. Give me some conte crayon and a back posed model and I will render some terrific rear ends. I'm like a crappy salon artist in the 1870s.

20. What is the easiest thing for you to draw?

Faces, and extreme action poses. I draw too many faces sometimes and I really love action poses the more exaggerated the better. 

30. What inspires you to not just make art, but to be a better artist?

I really am having to think about this. Improving to be a better artist... that's always been a personal decision for me to just want to better myself artistically. I took my first life drawing class because one day I looked at a drawing and said "I really want to know how to draw people more realistically" and that was pretty much it.

Right now I kind of want to improve my art more so that I can make money with it, I have an art job right now, but since I don't have an art degree I make minimum wage. While it's fulfilling for me artistically and I do love my job, I kind of want to move out of my parents home so that I can stop feeling like a waste of space, and so that my relatives stop seeing me as a waste of space. So my motivations are money, and a little bit of "I want to do better" but I'm not sure if that qualifies as an inspiration. I used to want to make comics for kids, but now I feel as if I just want to make something.

AW SO SWEET I WILL DO THIS THING THEN

1. I'm pretty confident sometimes and I think that can get me far in life in a lot of ways. Also makes doing these things pretty easy

2. My face is p cute, actually. If you don't think so you can fuck right off i'M ADORABLE

3. when I actually TRYYY I am a good artist. I just have trouble focusing enough to finish a piece but it's allll goood

4. I am charming (in person apparently) and I make friends really easily, which is nice because i tend to like people on a personal level and i like to get to know everyone

5. MY HAIR IS FUCKING BOMB SERIOUSLY. I'm so proud of it, even though it's fried (it's still pretty soft) I dye it about every other week and i have like 7 different colors and I JUST LOVE IT SO MUCH
