The world is slowing down, settling, but it’s all new -- for everyone. No more genetic testing, no more war...Peace has finally become a stagnant in their reality. Of course it’s not without their battle wounds or scars. Whilst Tris’ eyes are closed, she finds the spot amid her abdomen where she remembers the trigger had sprung to life and bullet ran through her flesh. She remembers how she’d succumb to the amount of blood, she remembers looking into her brother’s eyes -- the betrayal, the fury running through her blood before it all went black. --- It’s been months now, and still, when she looks in the mirror she can hardly recognize the leader before her. This was never what she’d wanted, but she has to carry the legacy of her parents, their boldness, their fearlessness, their kindness.
Tris comes-to from her trance as she hears the doorway to their bedroom, Tobias, to this very second he makes her heart pitter patter with joy. “What took you so long?” she questions half-hearted, tilting her head before she greets him with a softened kiss. Palms find his face, warmly embracing his cheeks as she yet again studies his features as she’s done so very many times before, then provides a gentle smile. “Did you miss me?”
