"What's wrong? Forget how to balance on two feet?" He caught her, but the teasing remark couldn't be helped. It was so unlike Maka to be clumsy on her feet, but when it came to dancing she was as hopeless as ever. He would tell her she lacked both rythm and style, but jokes aside he couldn't match her in nearly everything else. "Yeah," to answer her question. "The Doc suggested it remember? We gotta do our own thing and this seems t'work." One, two, one, two, three... The rythm of the music told his feet where to go, and he simply followed, guiding Maka along. Nothing seemed off to him -- except for Maka's steps that was -- but the anxiety sensed in his parter was not something he dwelled on. Maybe there was an inkling of what was going on; he'd grown out of that naive, oblivious state of mind Maka had often scolded him for. So maybe he knew, but he felt no need to address it. Everything could be communicated through their soul wavelengths after all. "You gotta relax a little. Focus on the music." Maybe it was easier for him, jazz was his personal taste and it was easy to sync his wavelength to the rythm. His hand pressed more firmly to the small of Maka's back as he unconsciously brought their bodies closer, as if the connection was being interupted by the space between them.

FRIDAY! finally. the blonde rested against the bar, lightly tapping her fingers along the top with a small grin upon her lips. “how’s it going?” she asked. sometimes she just couldn’t help asking questions, it was what she did for a LOT of her work day - at this point it was just a habit. but it was also a question she genuinely wanted to know the answer to. “no one’s scared you off yet?” she added with a small chuckle - obviously joking. “sometimes i think the people are scarier than the dinosaurs.”

[ TXT: MAKA ⭐: Hey BlackStar — I know you’ve gotta be pissed.. hell you might kind of hate me — but I’m ready to talk, if you’re willing to meet me?? Outside of Death City. I’ll be at the park tomorrow we went to as kids. In Washington, remember? I hope you’ll be there ]
He’d read the message near a hundred times over, eyes scanning the written words ( jerky sentences. it felt wrong. wasn’t Maka a better writer than that? ) every time he’d unlocked his phone, but he’d yet to formulate a reply, even now at the place of their meeting. What should he have written in response to that? What could he have?? ‘Okay sure thing i’ll totally ignore the months and months and months you haven’t spoken to any of us and rock up tomorrow because you asked me to 👍👍’ ?? Yikes. There wasn’t anything he wanted to say over a text that he didn’t want to say straight to her face, and even something as simple as an ‘ok’ felt weird. Too casual, like this wasn’t something huge that needed to be addressed.
Shit, he hoped this wasn’t going to be some big emotional thing, but he also knew that realistically there was no other way for this to go. Maka had left like they hadn’t meant a thing to her, and call him sappy but that shit hurt. As big as he was, Maka was his family.
He unlocked his phone again, re-read the message he’d read near a hundred times over, and locked it once more. Washington D.C. The part they went to as kids. Well, he was here now, a sullen looking young man loitering around on a park bench ( shit, he didn’t look creepy, did he?? ) waiting. It would have helped, he’d thought more than once, if she’d given him a time to go with the place, but he also supposed that information would have come had he responded to her. As it was, she probably didn’t even know if he was going to show or not, so really, it would be sort of a surprise for both of them, in a way.

“Hey there, you look kind of lost. You alright?” The King said in response to the encounter for the current time being.

the weather was perfect out and after having spent most of the past few days cooped up in his apartment, usui needed out. what better place to lounge about than on the rooftop? half of him expected her to be there but upon opening the door with bandaged arm... he was alone. the only thing accompanying him was the book that sat in his other hand, the very same that she had been reading that fateful day. on the ground he sat, busting open his juice box and patiently sipping its contents, all the while already halfway through the book that he started earlier that morning. ❝ hmm. it is a good book. i’ll have to tell her if i ever see her again. ❞

Straight Outta Death City~
「巫女」:: “Well, I have to admit--I didn’t know if that would work...Especially since others have tried on their own and haven’t made it through-But I guess you just need contact with someone who can pass through to make it through the time slip...!”
::the miko helped her blonde meister friend up over the lip of the well, and stepped into the dappled sunlight of the forest that it was nestled in. She stretched some, before turning to the other girl.::
“In any case-Welcome to the Sengoku Jidai, Maka-chan.~And Inuyasha’s Forest. Hopefully you can clear your mind in this era~”
