hiatus.

the time has come, my friends. lately, i’ve been very unmotivated to write on here, especially after a grueling day at work staring at a computer screen for hours. i’ve been tending to other things, hanging out with people outside of work, and generally detach myself from the computer when i’m home. i’m going to miss a lot of the interactions, especially the newer ones that have arisen, but i think this is the best direction for me at the moment. hopefully i’ll come back, but if not – i wish you all the best :) thanks for making my writing experience so wonderful.

Given the situation, she couldn’t blame him for thinking that. It seemed like she was always in a bad situation around him. “I assure you… This does not happen that often. I suppose I just have the terrible luck of looking bad around you, out of all people.” That actually hurt more than she made it seem. She was already a freakish dragon, and it seemed like she was adding other bad qualities about herself into the mix.

But when he mentioned about the item is what kept her in check, she could feel herself stiffen. He had no idea… but she knew better than to say that. “Kind of, it makes it easier for me, that’s for sure. But it’s more like a family heirloom…” She wasn’t lying. It did keep her from growing five times bigger and not being able to calm down, but it was also the only thing she had ever gotten from her grandmother.

     ❝ seems like that’s the case. ❞ little did she know that her comment hurt deeper than any visible wound. for most of his life, people blamed him for the death of his mother. that she couldn’t handle being around him and that life wasn’t worth the suffering any longer. to say that bad luck followed him... surrounded him... it brought him directly back to that.

     ❝ i’ll help look then. ❞ as much as he hated his own family and how they treated him, that was no reason to be bitter about her own. he crouched closer to the ground and started to sift around in the grass, crawling around a tree trunk to find something shining in the light. ❝ is this it? ❞

                  “There’s no need to get sensitive, geeze…” She let out a heavy sigh, still keeping her suspicions but knowing better than let them all out to mr. science shit here, since he clearly wasn’t on board with having his family being introspected on, still she coulnd’t help but being curious and much more so after his reaction.

                    “Are your cousins like Yukii too, though?” She knew Kyo was very distant in general, and Yukii seemed gentle but she knew well of his no-touchy reputation, specially around girls, it kind of made her wonder too. “Are they against being with girls?”

      ❝ i’m not sensitive! you’re just askin’ too many questions. why don’t you ask them and not me? ❞ suffice it to say, kyo wasn’t used to this. wasn’t used to people bombarding him with questions, especially about his family. the boy was loud but reserved, and kept any semblance of ‘true feelings’ on the back burner.

      ❝ w -- ❞ kyo stopped in his tracks and looked over at her, his face almost ghostly. so she’d noticed. hell, everyone noticed... that they weren’t fond of being touched by others. but especially the member of the opposite sex. ❝ um, yeah. i guess... you can say that.. ❞ he muttered sheepishly.

       STAY AT HER PLACE ? ! ? ! ? ! ?  yerin couldn’t hide the surprise that struck her features upon suddenly hearing that option … but the shock was less about the actual offer and more about how she feared she might have sounded. had it seemed as if she was hinting around for aoi to suggest her own place? it hadn’t crossed her mind – really, she had just been thinking of simpler options that wouldn’t have a bed, but maybe a comfortable chair.  ❝ oh no I WASN’T – i couldn’t – AH – ❞ she blurted out, waving a hand and mirroring aoi’s own previous, frenzied gestures ( the other hand remained still, careful of the cooling cup of cocoa ). ❝ i was really just thinking of, um, 24-hour gaming rooms, o-or capsule hotels … ❞ she assured. it would be nothing that would FURTHER take advantage of aoi’s kindness; she had already done so much for her! 

     … although … at the same time, aoi’s expression suggested that she didn’t seem too distressed by the idea. and she HAD offered it, relatively ( hopefully ) unprompted. it felt rude to completely decline the invitation as well, and at once yerin felt pulled in two completely opposite directions – each primarily founded on etiquette, but of a different color.  ❝ it’s true, it’s just . .  . i just don’t want to trouble you any more, aoi-san … .❞ she started tentatively, the weight of continuing to be a burden on aoi well into tomorrow morning sinking in.  ❝ you’ve already done so much for me, ❞ she murmured – then raised the cup of cocoa again, laughing a bit sheepishly. it would honestly be the BEST choice, but she would certainly have to make it up to aoi somehow.

     ❝ why would you ever do that do yourself ?! those places are super uncomfortable... and i bet there are smelly boys everywhere, ❞ aoi giggled as she swung herself back and forth, rocking in her seat now that her mug was entirely empty. there should have been more apprehension there, she knew that. she knew that inviting a stranger into her apartment was bringing about a risk she may never recover from. she knew that being too TRUSTING may lead to misery in the end, as it had done to her time and time again. but yerin was here for her sister  -- the gesture alone was sweet enough to rot her teeth. 

     ❝ we’re really similar, y’know that? always... always thinking that we’re being bothersome to others, when really we’re just trying to make everyone else’s lives easier. to just.. hang out on the wall and not be the center of attention... ❞ her eyes were cast downward at the remaining speckles of milk and chocolate at the bottom of ceramic, but those very same bright violet eyes snapped up with resolve, and smile remained across her lips. ❝ all i did was pull you out of the rain and made you something to drink. i’ll just do this one last thing for you and then nothing ever again! ❞ if only to ease yerin’s conscience. ❝ how does that sound? ❞ she asked with outstretched hand as she hopped up from her chair. ❝ besides, you can’t show up to your sister’s birthday empty-handed. she’d never let you live it down, ❞ aoi teased.

Cuter? Todoroki allowed a moment to glance down at the kitten in his arms. Perhaps Yaoyorozu was correct; up close, one could pick out the pink nose, fine whiskers, and subtle patterns in the fur. “I think it’s a girl.” Of course, a trip to the vet was likely required to confirm such an assertion. The sensation of the cat nuzzling against his chest startled him, his lips parting although he wasn’t certain of what to say. Did it truly harbor no fear of him? It was the words of Todoroki’s companion, however, which brought his gaze to her face once more. “Do I?” It felt nice ( both earning the feline’s trust as well as her complimentary observation ). “I’ve never held a cat before.” He could feel its little heartbeat against his palm, and he was struck by the notion that he would be perfectly happy to never let it go. “That’s a good question — ” It wasn’t as though he could easily whisk it into the dorms, yet he couldn’t leave it alone, either. “We can’t just leave it out here. It gets cold at night.”

     she’d never seen a creature calm down as quickly as this kitten, and surely it was because of his nature that rendered it to do so. todoroki wasn’t a boy that startled others with quick movements, nor did he shatter the ears of others by speaking loudly and boisterously. even she noticed how the air around them would CHANGE based on his attendance alone, and as of late, it’s been for the better. she felt corners of her lips curl upwards, knees now bent slightly as she brought herself eye level to the ball of fluff that breathed deeply in his hands. ❝ she must like both sides of you. see? you’re more balanced than you think you are. ❞ her eyes were warm and inviting as she looked up at him, and then briefly closed them as her smile grew in full. ❝ well... i’ve never really been one to break the rules. i don’t think we should keep it in the dorms, unless you’re ready to carry that responsibility. maybe we can tuck it close to the gym? it’s so small... i shudder to think what will happen to it once we leave. ❞ and call her silly but she’s grown attached ; yaoyorozu never had a pet growing up. ❝ it’s your decision, todoroki-san. ❞

「 宝 」 Granted, given her own nature, how much she’d be able to help him avoid upsetting anything was debatable. She never cared much about offending people, nor did she quite understand what made them tick; regardless, at least she knew what could be observed logically, which was a decent start. ( Perhaps he’d befriend someone more empathetic in the future. ) “Yes, that’s best avoided,” she commented absentmindedly as she fiddled with her cup, debating whether or not she wanted to ask him for more tea. “Fortunately, sifting through books and records happens to be a specialty of mine. That’d make for an interesting time, I’m sure.” As for the likelihood of acquiring supernatural records, she couldn’t say that chances were hopeful. If anything, it’d have to be from a source other than her family. “I’ll certainly keep that in mind for the future. If I ever need anything, I assume I can find you here.”

     tone of voice indicated that she didn’t really sway one way or another, but there may be relief in that. emotions, as many would agree upon, tended to make situations more difficult than the should be. remove it altogether and perhaps it’ll be easier. clover rose a hand to his mouth and chuckled, purple orbs shifting to the corners to catch a glimpse of her. ❝ i believe that. i’ll try and help as best i can. this is my case, after all. ❞ hopping back behind the bar, clover began to tend to random cleaning once again ; he had to be doing something at all times. it was as though it was a tick of his. he nodded at her assumption and push his arms outwards, as though uncovering some grandeur around him. ❝ you’re right. this place is my baby, after all. and.. if you ever need a quiet place to finish your homework, that spot you’re sitting in shall be reserved as yours. just say the word. ❞

“I believe it is a pure, yet highly unique, coincidence.” That was the best way she could explain it. Cause she usually wasn’t on the ground, she could promise that. She just seemingly came into contact with Kyo in particular when she happened to be so. Talk about strange…

As he looked at the ground she was just going through, she couldn’t help but chuckle nervously. She could feel her balance attempt to go out of wack, as she looked down towards him. “Well… Strangely enough, yeah.” How embarrassing… but she could at least ask since he was around. “Have you seen a necklace around? It’s the one I usually wear, with the silver chain and dragon pendant. I can’t afford to not find it…”

     ❝ i don’t believe that. ❞ not one bit. especially with how frequent it happened. either that, or something was terribly, terribly wrong... and he had a feeling that was where the conversation was about to go. mouth parted at the sound of the ‘strangely enough’, and kyo let out a sigh with a shake of his head.

     ❝ why the hell do i feel like that just happens a lot with you? but no, i haven’t seen a necklace anywhere,  ❞ he replied, eyes beginning to scan the ground further in the event that he’d missed it. ❝ lemme guess -- that keeps you in check? GOOD GOING, idiot. ❞
