Qwark’s from Twitter and then more dumb Qwark rushing off into battle in my Ranger Nefarious AU
I imagine there were special occasions where the Rangers had to attend a fancy smancy event, so maybe this is one of those times
Meet the Rangers!
Ratchet and Clank next gen 4
Talon: (15)
Kela: (12)
Zeke: (8)
My relationships with my colleagues? They’re strictly professional. Not too much to say other than that, I’m afraid. But I can tell you all what I think of them, if you’re curious.
Cora is quite remarkable for her age. Very mature, sharp-witted, capable... no-nonsense, but secretly quite kind. I admire her tenacity! (though I believe she thinks I’m a bit of a nuisance ahaha)
Brax is a fearsome fighter—definitely someone you wouldn’t want to be on the bad side of. He and I don’t exactly have much in common... at all... but he’s never been unkind. Er, openly, anyway.
And then there’s Captain Qwark. There isn’t exactly a whole lot about him that I can say that’s... favorable. Consider my relative silence to be your answer.
On a related note...
Cora is too young, Brax is too intimidating, and Captain Qwark is, for lack of a better word, himself. I am happy to report that I have no romantic interest in any of them!
I can’t keep this in its fic, it breaks the mood, but it amuses me so I’m posting it.
Brax groaned and let his head rest on the floor of the practice range. It was a work of art, really—perfect for training the people who took on the meanest, nastiest, toughest villains that the galaxy saw. Waves of enemies, multiple levels with variable terrain, randomised spawning points, all built out of the finest materials that bolts could buy. It was meant to challenge.
He usually did better than this.
He pushed himself off the floor with a grunt, and took a look around the room. The place was scattered with scrap, but the intact robots—the ones who had been shooting at him thirty seconds ago—were already dragging away their dismembered comrades. Give it maybe five minutes, and the place would look like new.
The rage boiled up so quickly that Brax didn’t have the chance to think. One second he was still holding his gun, the second he’d thrown it as hard as he could. It struck the back of a robot’s head with a ringing clang.
There was a moment of silence as the robot wobbled on its single wheel. Other robotic heads turned to watch, until Brax’s unintended victim was the focus of the entire room.
It wobbled.
And wobbled.
And then keeled over.
Crash.
Every other robot in the room turned its head as one to look at Brax.
A drop of sweat rolled down Brax’s neck. Had anyone ever said exactly how smart these things were? Or programmed them with some sort of safety so that they wouldn’t shoot you when the simulation wasn’t running?
And what exactly was the highest setting on those blasters?
“Ahem. Excuse me?”
The robots turned, and Brax let out the breath he’d been holding.
“Clank, little buddy? Is that you?” he asked, edging his way carefully towards the door.
“Yes. Am I interrupting something?” Brax could see the little guy now, standing in the centre of the doorway and looking confused.
“Nope! No, not at all. I’d finished up and was just...leaving.”
Oh God, he could feel the robots turning to look at him. Were their eyes turning red? That was always the sign that they were going to kill you, right? Oh God, he was going to die.
Character aesthetics for Brax Lectrus from the Ratchet and Clank reboot and movie. Brax is my second favorite Galactic Ranger, second only to Cora, of course.
