Unless it’s a mother with her calf 99% of the time you will see Tapir by themselves, so I was really excited to see this sweet couple together. The male is in the front and the female is in the back, they most likely will spend a few days together as they attempt to reproduce. Most mammals are sexually dimorphic with males being larger, however with Tapir females are the larger gender, being such a large bodied ‘K selective’ mammal their gestation period is nearly 14 months with only one calf per birth.
