Challenging the odds when few others would dare, the compulsion to lunge at danger losing its lustre the moment a mortal grounded him to the surface of the moon. Trouble was just that; an opportunity to smear noble intentions with realism that no amount of heroics could erase, noble or otherwise.      “That is not an easy question to answer.” That said, he did owe much to the departed professor, and so, by extension, his offspring. An explanation was the least he could offer. But that still remained a challenging task. 

“The problems faced by mortals grow exponentially with the passing of each day. I guess...you could say that one day I grew wise to this fact and gave up trying. Which was,  admittedly, a simple enough  task to accomplish..”

Victoria watched the other for several minutes before clearing her throat.  “David?”  They had never met, and yet she knew his name even though she supposedly had no idea he was coming to the mansion.  Truth be told, she had sensed him coming from a while off.  His mind was fairly unique, after all.  “I assume you’re here to speak to the Professor.”  She didn’t dare going into his mind now that he was so close.  Even without doing so, she could tell it was... well, the best words she could think of would be unstable and dangerous.  Mental barriers were already coming up in defense of what he might do should he choose to do anything.  She was strong enough to push him back, but she was worried about collateral damages.
