@brcvevolek.
there is silence between them for a moment ; her eyes not leaving his as she continues to gently stroke curls behind her ears. her words laces itself throughout her thoughts, it does not show. ⁽ i’m complimenting you, not trying to get into your pants… ⁾ her fingers have since ceased their stroking of the small silk coat within her arms, ❛ well aren’t you the cheekiest one in here. tell me, do you say this to all the girls, still trying to get into their pants? ❜ the words are nearly spat from her mouth, so finely & purely accented that they demand to be heard, respected.
when she finally speaks, it is with an icy-laced humour that serves only to relieve her own tension. ❛ you know, most people usually don’t waste their time & talk with me, they just skip to the dance part, a man with your personality isn’t normally taking the time to start a conversation with someone like myself. ❜ she’ll admit that the compliments are nice. peaceful. a shame, really. perhaps he would visit more often from then on if not for the obvious.
‘ — a man with my personality? ’ — she means a lecherous man, he assumes. one defined by his sexual proclivities. a man who blows a quarter million on sex and private dances and ends up with a gambling debt greater than a normal mortgage. i’m not the man you think i am. i’m not here for sex. what is he here for? a whim. because there are parts to his plot that he can’t figure out yet. this is just the beginning. the planning, the scheming, the dedicating his entire life to getting linc out. ( i can’t lose him. he’s innocent. he was set up — linc wouldn’t do this. )
‘ i’m not looking for a dance. and i’m not trying to get into your pants. what’s your name? ’ — he’s noticed the accent, and isn’t oblivious to the ongoings of a seedy industry: everything’s under the belt. everything’s less than legal, and everything has strings attached. ( mostly, it’s money. mostly, it’s a big-time crook with a big-time operation that cheats women out of work and keeps them as something else. it’s a trade that michael wants no part in. )
so she either doesn’t believe him when he tells her that she has beautiful eyes, or she thinks he’s looking for something more venereal.
