theodora sullivan / 28 / mechanical engineer

lawful neutral. aggressively type a. passionate about problem solving, scheduling, and being right, theodora cannot be said to lack character, although how much of that character the people around her find tolerable is an entirely separate question. the joy she gains from procedure is second only to the joy of working her way through a problem, which is also the only way anyone has ever convinced her to set regulation aside. hungry for intellectual challenge and also validation.

things that would be fun to have:

- anyone from engineering, obviously; theo's A Lot, but also her job is one of the places she is at her happiest, especially if there's Something To Do, so...you know, mixed bag? - i'm v interested in the concept of her being led into definitely illegal exploits (which she is definitely Not About) by challenging her with strategic problems she physically cannot bear not to solve. - someone who regularly makes a point to prove her wrong, the more aggravating for the fact that they're probably often right. honestly please bring this child down a peg or 5 - it may be 200 years into the future, they may be floating through space, but LISTEN. i'm still toying with the idea of theo using her spare time to run a d&d campaign, goddammit. (or at least a d&d-esque rpg ~*~of the future~*~) so if that's something you're into, lmk. - workout pals! alternatively, workout rivals. either way, she works out at the ship equivalent of like 4:45 am every day, on the dot, and would be happy to either incidentally see other people there regularly or drag someone along, kicking and screaming be damned. - she's pretty bad at holding onto romantic relationships, but i think she's definitely fallen into at least a couple rivals/frenemies/enemies + benefits situations (irrespective of gender). she maybe has a problem with being into challenge. - if any of this sounds good to you or you have totally different ideas, always feel free to hmu or discord (cinea#9467) i will be absolutely delighted with absolutely anything

W A N T E D  -  Succession in Space

Succhive unite, I’m looking to replicate the (extended) family dynamics in space. What could be more enticing to get us all through the drought of the hiatus? I’d really like to crowd source the exact details together, however I do have a few details:

The ROYS (name subject to change ofc) are part of the 1%, super rich and super entitled; major shareholders in ARCo. it was a family decision (if not a unanimous one) to board the Erebus on its maiden voyage to Ceres VII. What ensues is, at first, the regular bickering and power dynamics you should be familiar with from the show itself; later, however, things may well turn them into the victims of a Bong Joon Ho-worthy uprising of the lower classes.

Please, please, please make my wildest dreams come true and hmu on discord ( tey#3637) if you’re interested! Ideally you’d be familiar with the show before taking one of the characters, but it’s not essential (~˘▾˘)~

A brief character overview under the cut, using the pronouns attributed to the show characters, HOWEVER I am more than open to swapping their genders!

THE LOGAN (late 60s, open face, open gender)

The pater familiam, LOGAN has the final word on absolutely everything. Chiefly behind the decision to move everyone aboard the Erebus, he enjoys making the puppets that are his family members dance to the tune of his personal whistle. He feels he deserves making his power felt: after all, he made it all the way to the top after starting out at the very bottom. A self-made man with more pride than one body can hold, he’s currently struggling with health issues (and perhaps not taking to space travel as well as he might have wanted) that he’s doing his darndest to keep covered up.

THE MARCIA (50+, open face, poc please!)

MARCIA is not the mother of the Roy children, and they won’t let her forget it. LOGAN’s third wife still remains somewhat of a mystery to her step-children - a riddle they’re constantly trying to figure out. Her motives may well be shady, or she may be entirely loyal to LOGAN. Whether she loves him or not, who knows, but she’s certainly got her own reasons for staying with him despite it all.

THE CONNOR (40+, Taika Waititi) -- reserved by lee

Though CONNOR is the eldest of the Roy children, he’s also the most aimless of them all. Without a wife or a family, he’s in constant pursuit of random and expensive hobbies, and very likely gambling away his share of the family fortune at the Elysium roulette tables.

THE KENDALL (40ish, Jake Gyllenhaal) -- reserved by ellie

KENDALL was primed to follow his father’s footsteps and take over the family business once LOGAN stepped down - until the tables turned. Having overcome addiction, he’s still struggling to uphold the image of the worthy heir: a struggle he’s not always winning. The fire hasn’t gone out in him quite yet, though, there’s certainly still some fighting spirit left in him.

THE SHIV (mid to late 30s, open face, open gender)

If ever there was ambition personified, it must have been SHIV. With a stubborn mind of her own, she has purposely chosen a career path diverging from the family business, carving her own path into the world, but very much expecting it to fall at her feet. Though recently married to TOM, her priorities are definitely not in playing house: after being practically forced to abandon her fruitful career on Earth, she has more incentive than ever before to vie for the top spot in her father’s affections (and his business, too).

THE ROMAN (30s, Louis Garell) -- reserved by moon

A bit of a wildcard, ROMAN has spent most of his life as the runt of the family. Unlike KENDALL, there was never much focus on his person, leaving him with the freedom to do whatever he damn well pleases. Only now, faced with the prospect of a clean slate and a new start on Ceres VII, he’s starting to rejig his attitude, turning to GERRI for support in finally growing worthy of his father’s respect.

THE GERRI (52, Suzanne Clément) -- played by tey

Loyal to a fault - both to the company and to the LOGAN, GERRI has worked hard all her life to gain a seat at the table alongside the big boys. As general counsel, she’s made it all the way to the top, but she’s still constantly being underestimated. A careful observer, however, she remains everyone’s first choice to turn to for advice.

THE TOM (late 30s/early 40s, open face, open gender)

The SHIV’s new husband and another loyal employee of LOGAN’s company, the TOM is perhaps the most eager for approval and attention. Working hard to gain either, he’s somehow still overlooked, awakening a bit of a mean streak in him when it comes to all those who have even less power than he does.

THE GREG (20s, open face, open gender)

A new addition to the family, the GREG still can’t quite believe his luck: a cousin to the ROY children, he only popped up on the family’s radar recently. But with a certain knack of making himself useful and weaseling himself into all the right spots, he’s already managed to gain free passage to Ceres VII - and all the perks that come with being part of an exec’s family.

it’s hard to rule the streets when there aren’t strictly streets to be ruled on a space ship, but auggie manages better than you would think. people are only rats in a cage and they need a release, whether it’s using their fists or their money. that’s where the fight club came from, a dark underbelly of the ship that’s only fixing to expand. it’s a brave new world. if you want to wear the crown, you’ve got to forge it yourself.
