What people are craving isn’t perfection. People aren’t longing to be impressed; they’re longing to feel like they’re home. If you create a space full of love and character and creativity and soul, they’ll take off their shoes and curl up with gratitude and rest, no matter how small, no matter how undone, no matter how odd.

Satan is a liar, and he will always seek to overthrow, or at the very least, cast doubt on the truths most precious to God. At the cool waters of the Jordan River, the Father declares, "This is my beloved Son." In the parched desert in the Judaean Wilderness, Satan quickly replies: "If you are the Son of God." Yet again in Matthew's Gospel, Satan seeks an occasion to cast doubt on Jesus' identity: "If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross" (Matt 27:40) ... Notice the pattern: Satan comes to us when we are in deserts and on crosses. And in those places where there is no bread (Matt 4:2), and only sour wine to drink (Matt 27:48) ... But the word of God always triumphs, so God chooses an unlikely mouthpiece at the foot of the cross to speak words of truth: "Truly this was the Son of God!" (Matt 27:54) ... Even when the circumstances of our lives leave us feeling physically empty, there is more than enough to live by when we find our daily bread in Christ Jesus. ~ One For Israel [modified]

Christian ritual raises uncomfortable questions~why do bread and wine represent flesh and blood, why is resurrection central, and why do these practices look Greek rather than Hebrew? This episode asks who Dionysus was, how his mystery festivals shaped Paul’s theology, where pagan god-man myths entered Christianity before the Gospels existed, and why the Towrah was displaced by ritual and myth. It also probes Yahowah’s actual testimony on the three outcomes for human souls.

Days 10-11: Ready for a little bread and wine? It's five o'clock somewhere, so if you care to join me in a glass of red wine as we create today's block, be my guest. Juxtaposition is defined as two things being seen or placed close together with contrasting effect. Our block today, another table scene that will sit directly beside the table scene we created yesterday, create perfect juxtaposition. One block is about betrayal, the other about faithfulness. One block is about love of money, the other about love of others. Today, we recreate the Last Supper. Tell me in the comments if you and your family do anything special for dinner on Holy Thursday in your home or church, and share a photo of your Last Supper quilt block using the hashtags #faithandfabric #scripturequilts #lastsupper #holythursday #breadandwine https://www.instagram.com/p/CbfS0ybLmIe/?utm_medium=tumblr
