This is Archie! His pronouns are He/Him and he's in 1st year at st Churnley's! (He's also bisexual but he doesn't know that yet)
Basically his curse is that he's really hot. So much so that it burns through normal clothes (his uniform is specially made to accommodate this of course and the school also gave him some other clothes through out his life). Even through his custom clothes he burns people if they touch him.
Being around him it's just really hot like being next to a fire. It started off small but over the two or so years it’s been affecting him it’s just gotten worse and worse. He doesn’t feel the full effects but does feel some minor effects (like if he's actually like 200°C he'll only feel like 20°C).
The actual temperature changes from day to day, sometimes it’s not so bad but sometimes it’s SUPER hot. On the worse days he’s basically constantly sweating because of the heat. When people touch him it burns them but also burns him so he tries to avoid contact but it doesn't hurt as much on a better day and sometimes it doesn't burn at all (although those days are rare)

He doesn't have much of a backstory rn and I haven't really thought about his family or anything but I might do that eventually (well, that's more of a "will once I have the time + motivation")
I especially like his weird little nose. It’s got a weird bump on it which nigh have lore later I genuinely don’t know but it’s so fun to draw :)

I still need to get used to drawing child characters because I have no idea how to do that so have fun with slightly older-looking drawings of him for now.
But also I think I forgot to mention in the last post but the curse only works on people. Touching objects doesn’t count (so he’s not just going round setting everything on fire constantly). Also the burns actually manifest as actual burns on other people but not on him it just feels like a burn. Nurse Lenny certainly has a field day with him lol.
ANYWAY! More stuff about Archie! He has a background, family and personality now! I'm going to put all that stuff under a cut because it's quite long.
Firstly, his family. He is an only child and his parents don’t really understand about the curse. They started off thinking he was just sick but it never stopped and eventually they got the letter from the school. They were looking for ways to cure Archie and that’s why they let him go to St Churnley's even though they don’t like him going too far out of their sight before that both because they don’t want him to hurt himself but (and this goes unspoken) they also don’t want him to hurt others. If it weren’t for their hope of a cure he doesn’t think they would have let him go.
His parents desperation for a cure to his curse, while coming from a good place, created this feeling of being broken and inadequate in him over the years leading him to be a perfectionist, often pushing himself past his limits in an attempt to prove himself and make up for the curse in a way.
Obviously his parents don’t mean this they just want him to be “Normal” and for things to be easier for him but he takes it as “They’re ashamed of me and my curse, I’ll make up for it I swear” but also he is ashamed of his curse even on his own so this just makes it worse. BUT he's also ashamed of it because it hurts others. If it was just him who got hurt then he would probably force himself to act “normal” but luckily (kind of) it does hurt others so he doesn’t do this.
At his normal school he starts to distance himself from the others as his curse gets worse and worse and eventually it gets so bad he gets taken out entirely (although that’s only in the final few months of school before St Churnley's)

Okay, now his personality I guess?? Idk what to call this bit but here we go.
He tries to keep out of the way because he doesn’t want to get burned from brushing up against people. He still is very friendly and easily gets lost in the moment. That is until he touches someone but accident, burns both them and himself and goes back to trying to keep to himself.
The problem is that he’s naturally quite confident and likes to be the centre of attention so has to actively hold himself back because he doesn’t want to hurt anyone. He got quite good at this back at home but now he’s at school and with people like him it’s harder to just stay in the background.
He spends most of his free time reading and studying in an attempt to distract himself from getting too close to people. But also this studying is also in search of a cure for his curse. Understanding would probably be his favourite class simply because he thinks if he can understand his curse he can find a way to fix it.

That's basically all I have so far. I do have a little bit more but that's just stuff I want to happen to him and stuff. Not that important.
I have decided that his class would be a Wizard I think. Idk why, mainly vibes I guess?? Idk I don't play DnD I'm gonna be honest I just think It'd be cool alright?
So I was working on the magic system for my Oc's world and it was SUPPOSED to be a small "oh yeah you can do this as well if you want" has now taken up half my day and I've created a whole google doc on how to do it.
It's based on the stars and ties into my main magic system and it's really cool but now it's super developed and my main system (which I wasn't going to develop) is still hand wavy and I feel like I should develop that now.
Drew some more Oc's! I currently only really have some curses + basic personalities but they're fun to draw.
Okay so I'll explain their curses + put the original picrews I did under the cut.
Firstly, Noah's curse is that whenever he touches water his skin turns into scales and he gets general fish features (like gills + webbed hands + feet and possibly fins I'm not sure yet). This DOES only affect the area that is touching the water though so one drop doesn't make him a full fish. His eyes also change so they can stay open underwater more easily + see more clearly underwater (meanwhile on land he needs glasses to see lol).
And then Lucas's curse is that whenever people stop looking at him he stops moving. Like a reverse weeping angel basically. Idk the exact perameters yet (like does corner of the eye count or if it has to be direct focus) but I have decided that mirrors work but thinks like video calls do not unfortunately. As long as at least 1 person is looking at him he can move (he doesn't count in this btw).
This is probably the worst curse I have come up with so far simply because you could have absolutely no privacy ever which would MORE THAN SUCK but yk, I thought it would be a fun idea.
Both of them are friends and are in 4th year at St Churnley's by the time the main boys are there. Lucas is like a head taller than Noah I've decided. That's all I really know about them lol.
Don't have any proper art of him yet so for now this picrew will have to do.
This is William! He uses He/Him pronouns and is in 1st year at st Churnley's. He would also be a barbarian class I think.
His curse is that when he feels any really strong emotions porcupine-like quills shoot out of his back and the backs of his arms and legs. These can just stay up as a form of protection or can shoot out to injure people, these are large enough to kill. It is relatively painless unless the emotion switches quickly and they come out really fast (He gets jump scared for example) which then leads to them breaking through the skin and leaving scars where they came out + bleeding a bit when they go back in (He found this out the hard way).
The quills will come out at any strong emotion whether it’s anger, fear, or even happiness so he tries to keep calm constantly, although they are quicker to come out when the emotion is something negative.

He had a happy family life, normal kid, friendly neighbourhood - everyone knows everyone vibes yk. Well, when he gets his curse and it first appears his family quickly turn on him and start to hide him away, leaving him with very little to do. They are disappointed that their normal kid is now “ruined” with this curse and instead of trying to help and cure it like Archie's family (that's my other Oc) they try to hide the problem away and forget about it instead.
William becomes quite independent because of this and begins to resent his family for abandoning him at some of his most vulnerable moments although this doesn’t properly hit until a few years down the line.
Because of his sudden disappearance the neighbours do ask where he’s gone and his family covers it up with a summer camp excuse or something but when his letter for school appears they are happy because it gets him out of the house and away from them.

He tries not to show a lot, if any, emotions. Just goes along with people because arguing is too dangerous as it could bring up strong emotions. Very passive person although feels strongly about his options despite this, often to his own misfortune when things get too heated. He is a quiet kid though.
When he gets older he gets more confident in his curse and is more rowdy, using his curse for intimidation as well as defence in certain situations.

So yeah! That's my second Oc for this campagn. There will probably be more but these are my two main ones so far. I did have a drawing but I can't find it rn and I just wanted to post it now. I'll post that eventually though (probably).
