12: What scent calms them? Reminds them of home or something soothing?

Sam loves spicy smells! Things that are cinnamon-y and like warm. She loves like men’s cologne and things that remind her of home. Her parents lit lots of candles and that kind of stuff. Pine trees, even incense bc she went to catholic school, and like even though she’s not religious the smells make her happy because they just calmed her down. Like she kinda just let her mind wander at church, and like slumped up against her friends and like sometimes they took naps if they could. It’s like all stuff attached to nice memories. Also if you think she doesn’t just like smell her dog and her cat you are dead wrong.

10: How do they deal with strangers?

Sam’s pretty friendly until you give her a reason to feel uncomfortable or suspicious. Because she tends bar, she’s really chatty and friendly, but she’s also very wary of people when something starts to seem off. So as long as you don’t approach her on the street with anything vaguely out of the ordinary. Like probably never approach her on the street. At a bar it’s okay for her to be friendly and fun, but that’s where she’s most in her element with new people. In other situations, she’s pretty much just cordial and polite. Nothing out of the ordinary. Perhaps she’s a little brisk depending on the day she’s having.

20: What are Tropes you associate with your muse?

Probably things like Bi the Way, Trauma-Induced Amnesia, Dysfunction Junction, Deadpan Snarker, Sir Swears-a-Lot, The Bartender (i looked far and wide through the x files page and couldn’t find a good one about sam and im so annoyed.)

22: If given a million dollars, what would your OC do?

Definitely charity. She’d give money to animal charities and like queer and women’s charities. And she’d just kind of tuck the rest away. She’d probably let herself have like a few treats, and she definitely goes to like All Saints bc no one can afford that shit but it’s also so her style. So she probably goes a lil nuts on clothes for like a month, but then, hey she’s set. And money absolutely goes to her parents. They’re not struggling, but they’re definitely not super super well off. Like a solid middle ground where frivolity was avoided but money wasn’t ever a serious problem. So she probably gets some work done on their house and basically stuff like that. (Also like she and Cosima probably spring for like some dank weed lbr)

scariest thing that ever happened to her?

vinnie isn’t scared easily, but the first time she saw her dad extremely drunk and violent was terrifying. she had no idea how to react to it and just completely lost her ability to think on her feet. her dad reeked of stale beer and cigarettes which she could smell from the front door of the house. her mama was on the floor, curled up to protect herself from another blow and vinnie just stood there, not even knowing what she should do. but her dad made the decision for her when he turned his violence towards her. 

now she’s a little older, she’s not really that scared of him, but in that moment she was frightened for her life and her mama’s. she never knew that someone she trusted could ever do that and that’s why she knew she had to stand up to him. whenever she smells beer around the house, she always has that sinking feeling and keeps an eye on him in case he turns violent again.

when she was little did she have any big dreams of what she would be? does she still if she did?

her main dream when she was a little kid was to work with animals in some kind of way. part of her wanted to be a conservationist and travel the world to protect animals or even to find new ones. it was either that or becoming a vet so she could make sure that no one ever lost their best friend because she knew that if she ever lost sparky, she would be an absolute mess.

the main problem she had was that she didn’t believe in herself in some ways. going into high school, she just didn’t think she was smart enough to get good grades and go to vet school and with her family’s money issues, she just didn’t think going to vet school was fair on them. she also found out she had a talent for making movies and when she realised she could do that on a low budget, she forgot about that dream and turned her attention to film making.

what motivates her the most in life?

character building

most of the things vinnie does, she does to look after her mama. she loves her mother so much that she takes all her shitty jobs and never talks back to customers so she can earn money to help her out. she’s stayed at home so she can be there to look after her mother. while becoming a movie director is her dream, she partly wants to do it so she can use the money to look after her mama and buy her a nice little house. 

another thing that motivates her is just her passion for horror. that’s more centred around her dreams of being a movie maker and that just really gets her writing and trying her best to make her movies and get them out there.
