         it had been so long; so very long since he had touched her flesh, seen her bared to his eyes & right now he was gazing over her. he was taking in every piece of her skin & memorizing it. just like he did every time that he looked at her. ❛you are so lovely.❜ he breathed out, his eyes tracing over the pieces of her skin & his hand reached up to delicately begin to trace the contours that lined the curves of her waist. his thumb flicked back & forth against the flesh & his heart pounded inside of his chest. his pain was somewhat numbed from his intake of alcohol & he had known worse than this & survived. he slid his arm around her waist & tugged her closer to him. ❛come here…i never want to let you go again.❜ he breathed out in a soft voice as he traced his fingers all over her skin & began to trail kisses up the line of her waist, wherever he could reach. ❛it’s so hard to spend so long away from you, vin…❜ he admitted lightly. he had never been known to be chaste, but since he had been with her he had been. he had bedded no other.❛it’s torture to wait so long to see you again.❜ he admitted.

     just seeing his face was good enough for her, but being able to be this comfortable with him was testament to how much he meant to her. he had been her first and in her head, he was going to be her only. she couldn’t help but blush as he complimented her; the way he treated her always made her feel like the only person in the world. and she hated thinking in clichés like that, but she couldn’t help it. his trail of kisses caused her eyes to slip closed for a moment as she smiled to herself, her fingers tangling in his hair before she looked to him, her features softening. “why don’t we go somewhere no one knows us? get away from it all. get a small patch a land that’s all ours,” she said softly. being without him was like torture, the only kind of advantage it had was it gave her passion and time to write and earn a little more money. “i would do anything to be with you all the time,” she chewed on her lip slightly as she looked away from him for a moment.

Maybe having a work partner wouldn’t be so bad.  While excited to have someone newer around the archives, he’d hesitated at first when his boss said she’d likely be working with him.  He didn’t need someone to keep an eye on him, did he?  Even if this decision wasn’t at all about that, Zep’s last partner had been the man sitting shotgun in their ambulance: his best friend of twenty five years.  Transferring to John’s team and leaving him behind had been difficult enough.  Getting someone to replace him so soon after the angel changed jobs?  He didn’t know what to think.  But Vinnie?  In the twenty seconds he’d known her, Zep decided he liked her.  Everything was going to be fine.

Hearing her name, the prophet’s smile pulled wider.  “Last half of the alphabet, huh?  Wait until we tell William.”  He stepped past her into the hall, waving for her to follow.  “Am I the first one you’ve met here?  I’ll leave John alone and show you around while he does…I’m not really sure what he does, truthfully.”  A pause, followed by a sharp intake of breath.  “Anyway.”

He went the opposite direction of his boss’ office, turning to walk backwards so they could continue conversation.  “Since you’re part of the team I think I’m supposed to show you the whole archive section including the basement and everything.  I know we’re technically in the building’s basement now but there’s more.  The basement’s basement.”  Stop saying basement.  “The extended basement.”

     a small part of her was a little worried about getting a new partner. not because she didn’t think that zep would be a good partner but because she wasn’t sure if he would get tired of her. her old partner had been someone she had got to know before being partnered up. he found out about all of her quirks before working with her, so he knew that all the things she said and did were just her and they never made him uncomfortable, laugh at her, sure, but never made things awkward. new people made her nervous, which was ridiculous when you realised that this was the woman that had been solely responsible for capturing two serial killers and aided in finding multiple others. she could interview serial killers for the rest of her life, but she couldn’t make friends...

     small things like that always made her a little more cheerful in situations like this. end of the alphabet crew. it had an odd ring to it. she couldn’t help but grin softly. “yeah, well apart from the grumpy guy upstairs,” she said, following behind him. she knew that this place was underfunded, but she didn’t realise that they were basically underground and the people above them hated them. she guessed it could be worse; she could be back in quantico with her old partner...

     “basementception,” she joked with a little grin as she looked back up at zep. she could feel that she was going to get along really well with zep and she kind of hoped that she was partnered up with him. she could already imagine the two of the goofing off and john glaring at them. “just please tell me there’s some sort of order to the archives,” she asked, still smiling softly at him.

Shaking his head with a soft sigh-like chuckle, he pulled her back, kissing her nose. “It’s okay,” Pecking her lips he rested for a moment. “It was really nice.” He would’ve kissed her more, but he remembered their original plan of ordering food, and passed her the phone. “If you thing kissing me gets you out of ordering food-”

vinnie couldn’t help but blush ever so softly. she really was a total dork when it came to things like this. she knew she should have had a boyfriend in high school, at least then she would know what to do in situations like this. “alright, alright, i’ll order now, i promise,” she chuckled, picking up the phone and dialling the take away place, resting her head on his shoulder.

     a smile enveloped his features as he took the seat beside her. So many words rested on his tongue. So many thoughts floated through his mind. There was so many ways he could paly this, and part of him was dying to do them all. Yet, he kept his cool and instead allowed his features to settle into a cool straight face. The face of any man at a bar with a woman. Collective, calm, cool. That’s who he needed to be right now. He needed to just be himself. “Thank you.” Taking the seat, his fingers rest on the counter as he quickly motions for the bartender to make his way over. “I highly doubt that-, I’d argue rather the opposite.” You don’t know, but you’re the most interesting person in this whole entire bar. 

    the bartender narrows in on where they sit, and this is the point where Elias knows he must really keep himself reserved and cool. He wants to enjoy this, everything about this. “Let me buy you a drink.” The words slip out from the air, drifting in the dark night before melting like honey. Low and calm, not demanding but more matter of fact. Something that is presented…friendly, in some sort of way. Yet, while waiting for her to answer, green eyes fall back to the bartender as he mutters out “martini- shaken.” So different from how he spoke to her. Just as intended.

     if only she knew. if only she knew that the man before her was the person that she wanted to catch. in the future, she would look back on this moment and realise it was so obvious and she was so stupid for falling for any of this, but right now, she was going to turn into the awkward kid she’s always been. men never flirted with her or paid attention to her that much and she usually faded into the background which was how she kind of liked it most of the time. still, she couldn’t help but smile softly to herself as she played with the ends of her hair, watching him sitting down beside her. if her team ever saw this, they would be sure to tease the living crap out of her.

     she polished off the last of the whisky in her glass as she snorted. “tell that to my work colleagues,” she said raising her eyebrows slightly. placing the empty glass on the bar, she looked to the bartender, waiting for him to turn so she could get another, but before she could even say a word, her new friend had offered to but her a drink. “sure uh- just another whisky, thanks,” she said, glancing to the bartender before looking back to the new company. “i’m vinnie by the way,” she offered, smiling at him sweetly.

With footsteps passing the threshold between rooms, the man spun about in his seat, craning his neck to see the other around stacks of blueprints and partially completed projects.  He froze for a split second as he unsuccessfully attempted to put a name to her face before swiftly standing, cradling the dummy in his left arm.  He didn’t know her, did he?  Thankfully her words came as reassurance he hadn’t forgotten one of his dozen or so coworkers from this season.

The angel plucked the paintbrush from his mouth, dropping it into the clear plastic cup of fresh water on the table beside him without looking away from Vinnie, equally as blindly grabbing the cup of far cloudier water beside it as he cleared his throat.  Getting compliments on work at the houses wasn’t uncommon, but it was much rarer someone sought him out to say it to his face and, truthfully, it caught him a bit off guard.

“Thank you,” he started, taking a swig from the water he held.  His expression immediately fell, faint smile wiped from his face before the cup left his lips.  John’s gaze shifted to the paintbrush now sitting in his drink.

Though he seriously considered otherwise, he swallowed hard, distressed look not fading until he set the cup down again.  He rubbed his temple, shaking his head.  “You saw nothing,” John simply said, focus returned to Vinnie.  “Really - thank you, though.  Honestly I thought you were someone coming to tell me they’d busted something again.  This is…way better.”

     part of her knew that this was stupid and he probably got stuff like this all the time and one more kid thinking a haunted house was cool wasn’t really going to mean anything, but still, she kind of wanted to pick his brain on a more selfish note. if she could figure out his secret, maybe she could use something cool like this in one of her movies. she couldn’t help but note the way he cradled the doll in his arms, almost like it was his child. that was definitely cute and she could even see her doing that with something she had created.

     she smiled softly as he approached and started to speak. he seemed like a really interesting person already; someone she definitely wanted to get to know. she watched as he took a swig of the water, trying to warn him before, but it was far too late. she had to give him credit for just rolling with it though.

     her brow furrowed slightly before she shook her head, trying her best to try and get passed the fact he’d just drunk dirty water, that must have been so fucking gross. “doesn’t leave this room,” she said with a little smile. “nah, just a horror nerd who usually finds these things super boring,” she chuckled softly. “usually they’re so lame and there’s no craft, y’know?”

“Coming from me- from your favourite green bean- you are at least an eight.” He took some Pepsi for himself, sitting up only until he’d consumed it, then lay back again, facing her, smiling at her with his hand swiping the joint after her second drag. “I’m really fucked up, my pal.” He grinned at the remark, as if it was something to be proud of, though perhaps it was to mask the twinge of regret in his voice. “Like- I could’ve done something good like used my voice for something, but here I am, smoking and drinking away- Ew, I’m like one of those old men at the bars- you know the cryptic ones?”

carefully placing the pepsi on the side table, she laid down next to him, snorting softly. “you’re my friend, you’re supposed to say shit like that,” she said, half joking, half really not. she squinted at him slightly as he started to explain how he’d fucked up. she knew that the both of them were just the kids that everyone thought wasted their lives instead of knuckling down at school or paying more attention to having fun. she shook her head at him. “fuck that. we’re doing what we want to do. we’re young, we don’t have to decide to do anything yet. i’d much rather waste my time with you than doing something other people thought was good for me,” she said seriously. that was definitely the weed talking.

“no,” she said simply. she took one of his cigarettes and brought it to her lips. “i want no details, like fuck, no, jut no...” she said before lighting her cigarette and offering the lighter to him.

“Seemed out of it, is all.  And you’ve been looking at the same unopened file for…You know maybe a bit longer than I personally feel is necessary, but if you’re having some stare-down with the folder, then by all means don’t let me stop you.”

“shit,” she said, blinking slowly and putting the file down on the desk. “if only that could solve cases, right?” she said with a strained chuckle. “there’s just something about this case that’s bugging me. i just can’t put my finger on it and i know it’s here somewhere,” she said, opening the file finally.

okay, so things have been really horrible and gross lately and i’m starting to feel a little better so i’m going to try and get back to doing things. i have a lot of replies. i have like 45 to do and then i have three memes to sort out as well. i’m going to try and do things because i love you all so much, but if i start to get over whelmed, i will just drop off and try to chill and stuff. so please bare with me c:

so basically i’m in such a horrible place right now and i don’t know what i’m doing. my benefits have been stopped because i missed one appointment the i couldn’t attend because i was having a massive anxiety attack and even though my doctor wrote them a letter, they don’t believe me. i’m stuck at home with my parents; my mother who is rude and annoying a fuck and my dad who tries, but just doesn’t listen to me. none of my friends even care and have their own lives to live and so i’m just trapped and i don’t want to be here any more, i just want to fucking disappear.

Blood covered her clothing. Blood covered the sheets around her, and blood covered the kleenexs scattered around her room. The thick red-liquid poured down from her nose, so bad she thought she might be dying as she sat there. Tears spilled down her face as she held another kleenex to her nose. The bleeding had just stopped just as Vinnie came up the stairs. Diana threw on a sweatshirt, flipping her pillows and wiping her face with a kleenex before throwing them into her bureau with her medical files. Her head was spinning from the exercise and she swallowed, staring up at Vinnie from her position on the bed. Luckily, her comforter was black. Otherwise, Vinnie would be really concerned about the amount of blood. And Diana refused to let her be concerned. Vinnie was more important. 

Her face was thin. Her blue-grey eyes were dull and lifeless. Her skin was pale and translucent with a deathly look upon it. Her hair was thinning, her hair was fragile. Any tug would cause it to fall out. Her eyes glanced down at her hands, scratching at the blood on them.

     tucking a small strand of hair behind her ear, she looked towards diana, still smiling softly, but she till worried about her. vinnie had the luxury of not knowing everything that was wrong with diana, she was oblivious to the fact that things were a lot worse and that there was a chance that she would lose her new friend instead of having a new one for the rest of her life. it was bad enough that she could feel her mother slipping away from her, she couldn’t lose anyone else. diana wasn’t looking better, but part of vinnie wasn’t going to acknowledge that, simply pretending everything was okay was the most powerful gift that she had in this situation. she crossed the room, slowly sliding her back pack off and then settling on the chair beside the bed with a small smile. “how is everything?” she asked sweetly. her papa hated the idea of her being here since he wished she would look after her mama, but she just couldn’t stand facing any of that right now.

vinnie sighed softly as she rubbed the back of her neck, looking up at her, trying her hardest to not lose her temper. “but you’re not, are you, you’re still using,” she said quietly. “i wish you knew how much i cared,” she said, exasperated as she looked away from here.

“I’m not trying to guilt you into coming to this with me.”  Why was he even going without her?  “I’m just trying to guilt you into driving me there.”  A pause, a grin tugging at his lips.  “Look, I’ll be fine without constant supervision.  If worse comes to worst, I’ll just lean up against-”

“Vinnie!” The man greeted, his free left hand raising, turning to wave a goodbye over his shoulder to the woman who dropped him off.  He stepped forward, careful not to catch the rubber end of the crutch under his right arm on the uneven bricks making up the path beneath their feet.  The last thing he needed was to faceplant - not only in front of his new friend, but not even twenty steps from Addy, who lingered in the parking lot behind the wheel like some sort of concerned mother making sure her child made it safely through the school doors.

Vinnie’s change in expression was noted and it prompted the insurance exec to mirror the smile, stopping his awkward trudge beside her.  “Nice night for sitting inside and talking about severe physical and mental trauma, isn’t it?” He asked, glancing to the clear night sky above.  

Despite having lost more than half of the employees in his office - as well as his right leg - he knew his experience hadn’t traumatized him like other victims had been.  Though he didn’t appreciate being dragged into it all, he couldn’t blame the mastermind behind it.  He had a job to do just like William himself.  He only did what he needed to, what he was told to - albeit in a crueler and far more unusual manner than expected.  Forcing the fate to pull levers and flick switches to kill his coworkers already destined to die was payback for what he’d denied the angel, for making him suffer as he had.  But the others at these meetings?  Dragged in blind, tortured, and for all they knew, left to die.  If that didn’t mentally scar someone, William wasn’t sure what would.

He shifted his weight, grip on the crutch tightening.  “How are you doing, though?”

“Hanging in there?”

     healing was a long process, and she  knew that, but she was slowly getting there, she was becoming a little more comfortable with talking to people about her ordeal, but it was still hard. she rarely spoke at meetings, always belittling her experience because people had lost so much more than her; limbs, loved ones, and so much more. she hated herself for being so affected by her small ideal and so she would try to avoid talking about what happened to her. william was one of the few that had made her feel a little more comfortable about talking about it because he tried to let her know that she still went through something that was changing her outlook on everything.

     she took a long drag of her cigarette as she listened to him speaking, unable to suppress the small smile creeping further onto her lips. since all of this had happened, she realised that they all had a wicked and dark sense of humour because it just helped to deal with all of this shit. “yeah, i guess you could say that,” she said after blowing a stream of smoke away from him. the one thing that william seemed to be is actually caring towards him. she couldn’t believe that he could even be that way after everything he’d lost because of that fucking asshole. but the anger she always felt boiling for jigsaw subsided back into fear, another thing she hated about herself.

     “yeah,” she started, already unconvincing that she was okay, but she was still trying to prove to people she was okay. “i’m getting there, you know, taking it a day at a time and all that bullshit,” she said with a forced chuckle.
