Bangers! 12/08/2013 with Nat Feddon

Breakbeat team member Nat Feddon takes us through his favourite albums this month – and some of them could really bring the house down. Literally... 

Tycho – Dive

One word to describe this album. Amazing. It takes influences from everywhere, but is packaged in a great lounge laid-back style. With synth leads, and classic vintage bass, it’s just great to play in every situation, without alienating anybody's particular music taste. I played this album non-stop whilst away on a trip, and I must say, I'm still not bored of it. Check it out though, because as I say, you will probably love it!

  Seven Lions – Days To Come

For someone only entering the dance scene only recently, Days To Come is a perfect welcome to any dance enthusiasts library. The style mainly incorporates trance and dubstep, in an odd sort of way. The breakdowns are beautiful, and the main riffs are just… wow! In Days To Come, Seven Lions has aimed to keep his sound consistent whilst displaying it over a variety of tempos, with ‘She Was’ being at 100 bpm, ‘The Truth’ at 128, ‘Fractals’ at 134 and ‘Days To Come’ at 140, which works extremely well.

  KOAN Sound – Funk Blaster

Old school hip-hop taken to the 21st century is the best way to describe this. Smooth jazz meets huge fat basslines. The first sections/breakdowns will please your grandparents, whilst the riffs will satisfy your addiction to bass. You will surprise everyone when you drop this at a party by its sheer difference to anything else you have ever heard.

  Halo – Late Winter Tales

Well, for most people this seems a bit like a curve ball, but in all honesty, it’s just lovely. Pianos, violins and pads are the main instruments you will hear in this album, so apologies to anybody that was expecting a straight-up banger! Simply, the most relaxing stuff you can listen to. I have my 83-year-old grandmother hooked on Halo. He has the amazing ability to give you shivers with every song.

  Deadmau5 - >Album Title Goes Here<

Deadmau5 was at the top of his game when he produced this. It seems he has taken his sound further into the present whilst still retaining his original sound. Such an example would be ‘F’n’ Pig’, which gives me shivers every time I hear the intro. He hasn’t stuck to one tempo either, which is nice to see, with some laidback tunes as well as a hip-hop collaboration with Cypress Hill!
