In '45 Get Down' you will hear the pure (breakbeat-)sound of vinyl mixed together not in a classic "one break after another break" way, but rather I tried more to focus on songs that you can also listen to from beginning till the end. I believe these days a true bboy/bgirl should not only get down on drum breaks but also need the ability to dance and vibe off to a whole Funk or Rap song and understand the creation of the grooves from the band's instruments. Drums are powerful but don't forget your attention on heavy Bass guitars, funky Saxophones and vocals/rhymes with a message behind it. The reason for using only 7" records is simple: it's the sound that you will not get on a LP or 12" Maxi record. Most of the records in this mix are limited pressings of worldwide independent labels releasing continuos 45's past years and I just want to pay tribute to those artists and labels doing such great work still making music like this. Those people and those who dig for this are keeping the hip hop culture alive and fresh.
