Well, I just finished breaking Lorca.
I was a bit skeptical about this book, since it was about historical events - The war, the soldiers, the torture- But it was surprisingly good and well written! Good one Giles Blunt.
The book made me cringe at times, especially at the beginning when Victor had to clean, and when he found the prisoner's eyes. That was really disgusting.
And the parts where they were torturing Maria Sanchez were so graphic, that it made me feel like I was actually there with them. Victor's horror seeped into me throughout all the story. I was just thinking ''What would I have done if I was in his place''
The poor boy was terrified, and he didn't want to die. He knew that he was doing the wrong things but he didn't have any choice.
At first I was like ''Wow what a coward I would have done something''
But then, picturing the scenes and the possibilities that laid in front of him, I thought ''What if I didn't do anything either. What if I had no choice too. Maybe I would have done nothing. Maybe''
To conclude, I give this book a 7.5/10 And I would recommend it for you, if you have time :)
