what r some of the reasons people believe there should b a gender wage gap?
I'm going to cite an article for this, since this is an extremely unbiased blog because of our rubric. According to this article HERE some of the reasons they think there 'should be' or 'there isn't' a gender wage gap is because:
1) women choose to have children and be mothers so they get paid less because of the expectancy of them settling down to have children.
2) The fields that pay more are mostly male-dominant, which could be reasons from the fact that more men get hired from bias or because women just don't want those jobs.
3) They say that women will not go for dangerous jobs including things like logging or iron working, which are yet again male-dominant
These are three ways that people, including this article, say that women are in fact paid as much as men, or that there isn't a wage gap. But notice, one of the things they say is that it "almost disappears" almost meaning... you know, still actually there, which concerns me. Being almost there means women are still being paid less than men. Is it any more fair if the difference is 77 cents or 93 cents? Not exactly. And yet again, since there is a gap of percents between men and women's pay, should that mean that men and women have different taxes, especially on income? That's up to you to decide, anon. Thank you for asking, though! -M
