She had been keeping up an appearance of defiance and self assurance, insisting that Chad would save her - not because she holds any delusions that Chad Charming could love anyone but himself but because of the backlash he’d face from the kingdom should he lose her. But in truth? Melody is terrified, fearful that Chad may not find her in time.

Though, truthfully, what did she have to lose? Though her heart technically still beat, she had been dead since the day she had lost Harry.

So despite her nervousness, when her blindfold was removed and Melody came face to mask with the man who had bested her previous captors, her voice is clear and calm. “If it’s ransom you want, you’ll get it. Prince Charming will spare no expense for my safe return.”

“Look, uh...I don’t have much but I think I’ve got a spare coat that’ll fit you alright. It’s back at my apartment. You can come with me or wait here but I’ll be back. Promise.”

          “enjoying yourself?” uma questioned, glancing over at the girl as the ship rocked on the waves. the young sea witch knew that sailing wasn’t for everyone, though the easiest way off the isle currently was by ship. uma only hoped the girl’s stomach would stay settled until they were on solid ground once again. “we’ll be in auradon soon enough.”

Villain-Teacher conferences were a rather mundane affair, but thankfully - at least, in the case of the goddess of death - they were over rather quickly. Magic may not exist on the Isle in a traditional sense but most of the villains on the Isle know that Persephone is not to be triffled with. Still. These meetings are a formality and most of the teachers preferred with when the goddess was the one arriving. Her anger was colder than Hades’s - which makes her that much more formidable. 

“Dr. Facilier seems to think your excuses about not turning in your homework are starting to lack creativity. He expects worse from you. There’s only so many times you can claim Cerberus ate your homework, paidi mou.”

“Hey, so...are you and Melody dating now or something? Like actually dating?” 

It wasn’t like there weren’t dates on the Isle. Gil would know; he had had more than his fair share of girls asking him to parties and swooning when he flexed. But it wasn’t like it is here in Auradon. No hand holding, no cute words. Mostly just flirting and causing trouble. Dating in Auradon was...strange. Gil hasn’t really gotten the hang of it yet, despite the girls at all his ROAR practices and all the books they drop for him to pick up.

Harry, on the other hand, seems to fit right into the dating scene here in Auradon. Surprisingly. At least, he’s getting along with Ariel’s daughter - which was also weird and unexpected. Uma had been rather put out at first but slowly, Melody’s integrated herself into their group. Gil at least is happy to have an understanding Auradon kid on their side. But with all the time Harry spends with the mermaid, Gil’s just grown curious. Maybe asking is too forward, maybe Harry won’t even give him an answer...but he’s curious.

It’s an agonizing walk down to the docks and onto the Revenge; it always feels like that nowadays. 

Not that Gil doesn’t appreciate the awed and surprised stares when he walks through town, an arm tossed haphazardly around Uma’s shoulders. It’s as if some of her power has been transferred to him, just by virtue of being her boyfriend.

But that’s the problem, isn’t it? Gil ISN’T Uma’s boyfriend. Doesn’t even want to be. Not really. She’s beautiful and powerful but they’re just friends. Really good friends, since Uma was good enough to do this for him, to let the town - and most especially Gaston - believe that she and Gil WERE dating.

But now they were on the docks, away from the prying eyes of the town and his fathers’ tavern patrons. Even still, Gil has to wait until he can stop Harry behind the mizzenmast, in order to avoid as many potential eyes as possible. But there are a few teasing calls from the crew when Gil grips his first mate’s by the coat and presses his mouth to Harry’s. The crew didn’t care but that didn’t save the first and second mate from a bit of razzing now and then.

But Gil couldn’t care less about their teasing. Because goblins, he’s been waiting to do that all day.

Pulling back with a wide smirk, Gil murmured out a quiet, “Hey,” before concern confusion overtook his features. “Hey, you weren’t in class today. What happened?”

       the rocky sandy shores that make up the beach of the isle was full of pirates that evening, a raucous din of noise carrying over the water. uma hoped those in auradon could hear them and she hoped they were quaking in their shiny stone towers. with a bottle of rum the sea witch found her first mate and settled into the sand beside him. “i told you we’d do it.” she said after a moment of quiet, there was no malice in her tone. no for once uma seemed truly happy, after all, she had the trident and soon negotiations would start and they would all have their freedom.
