send me a faceclaim (or more than one!!!) and i'll tell you who they'd be in my muse's life as an NPC! (aisling's hometown edition) (ACCEPTING!)
starting with ERIKA "RIK" STRÖM, a renowned crime-thriller author from uppsala, sweden. rik moved to ballyanam following her divorce from her ex-wife, a famous actress who took great joy in ridiculing erika with blatant lies regarding her lifestyle, interests and habits, until erika was finally able to set the record straight. however, she realized that her loved ones had been all too quick to swallow astrid's lies, and quietly packed away her belongings, moving to the first place that the radio mentioned: the humble town of ballyanam, which had reports of a vibrant fiery sky just at the beginning of a nationwide blackout.
erika has since moved into a house by the sea, where she's begun a new book, much to the delight of her publishers. she frequently goes to the local coffee shop, where she sits at the same table, orders a new item, and watches the sun rise while she works out new chapters and plot twists. quiet, pensive, hard-working, erika has become a fond favorite of the locals for her dependability and refusal to entertain the gossip mills around town. she's also a fantastic chef in the art of jams, chutneys and marmalades, some of which are present in aisling's apartment in manhattan.
this brings us to ANTOINETTE "NET" O'BRIEN, the owner of greta's much beloved cafe. antoinette grew up in galway with her father, until she moved to chicago to reconnect with her mother's side of the family. upon arriving there, her grandfather was delighted to see her love for baking, and funded her application to culinary school. while antoinette excelled in all her classes, however, she found that her heart yearned for the companionship she'd known in any corner of ireland. so when her father asked if she'd like him to visit following an extended period of homesickness, she declined, and asked if she could come home.
by the time she returned to irish soil, however, her father had received notice that his apartment building was being sold, and that the new owners were looking to demolish it to build a new property. in exchange, each resident would be given a sum of money equating to six months rent to find new accommodation. jonas had signed the document before he could discuss it with net. devastated, she'd prepared to set off and hire a lawyer to contest the decision, when suddenly their former neighbour, greta, called them to ask if they'd consider moving to ballyanam in the wake of a number of properties becoming available for sale.
now a firm fixture in town, antoinette's creativity and affection for thinking outside the box are both a fraction of why her cafe is so popular. a fresh blend of multi-cultural delicacies, excellent coffee, and the energetic confidence of the owner herself are all magnets for those outside. in addition, she supports all local businesses enthusiastically, selling erika's jams and books as well as bee's honey and eggs. however, she sometimes receives targeted phone calls and emails from her family in the states, which leave her feeling guilty and remorseful for leaving chicago.
