Britney Spears- “Why Should I Be Sad?” [2007]
Lavish homes and fancy cars / Even got the drop Ferrari Filled up our garage for you / Made your choice with all the teams People and US Magazines / Tell me who'd I do that for, who?
Britney has a breakup song for every major relationship, and this is the one about K-Fed. Interestingly enough, it was written by Pharrell Wiliams, who I think did an amazing job capturing the end of that relationship. I’m always intrigued by how male producers were able to translate her growth and evolution as a young woman in a natural and I think respectful way [Max Martin did a great job in the Oops/Britney era helping her musician transition]. I think she had a great partnership with Pharrell over the years, he really seemed to understand and respect her point of view.
