Outside The Box

   In life it is too easy to get comfortable. We often find ourselves going through the same routine on a daily basis simply because "it works." That's cool if it's your job or any structured environment  because that's what's needed for it to function properly. However, when it comes to life in general, routines/habits can be functional on a daily basis; but at the same time, doing the same thing could block opportunities outside of "your box" that would be good for your growth.  I'm human & I get it... doing what you know brings a sense of security and stability. But I also feel that change is needed to push us to new levels in all aspects. Of course, with risks comes sacrifice and sometimes we're scared of the consequences of taking those strides.

   That's why I literally start with the feet first whenever I take a step outside of the box. No really, pun intended... I go to the back of the closet and wear sneakers that I usually wouldn't wear on a daily basis when starting new endeavors. Looking down and seeing something different but sentimental on my feet gives me the extra push to take those first steps forward. With the new release coming up in a few days, this time the shoe of choice is the Bred XIII. Not to flaunt or anything ego related, the purpose is much bigger than that.

   When it comes to the Bred XIIIs, I love them but they do not get as much play because they're more of a sentimental sneaker to me. I wore the Bred XIIIs on my first day of high school. I remember the feeling... not nervous, but more so eager to meet new people, go through new experiences, and just be in a new environment. 19 years later (ironically around the time a new school year is starting), I have the same mindset as I lace these Bred XIIIs TODAY.

   I'm far from a freshman in high school, but as I look down I'm mentally in the same spot. Just like Summer 98, this summer was rather 'interesting' with all of its challenges, but through it all I knocked a couple of things off my bucket list.  With that, I can honestly say I'm ready to take that first step "outside the box" for myself, my family, and Revamp26. What is the first step toward? To be continued...

Told you sneakers are more than just sneakers to me...
