Hi! Are you ready for some more really terrible photos of Betta Rubra!?
Since everyone is in lockdown and we never got to have our yearly fishclub auction, I still have all the surprise babies, and they've grown up.
The top two photos are of two brothers practicing with just about full colour on.
Bottom left is a teenage male at resting level colour.
The last one is a pair of one-year old females strutting for territory. I didn't believe the breeder when he said the females would colour up in time and even get some iridescence, because after the first few months I just couldn't see it.Give these fish time. The camera doesn't catch half of the rich ruby red of their namesake, nor the flashing iridescence.
And to top it all off, they can live communally. In fact, you don't even see those stunning displays unless they have competitors to be grumpy at.
I love these fish.
