Hii Guys! I've been obsessed with Eerie's fake dating Breagan fanfic https://archiveofourown.org/works/43618233/chapters/109675605 YOU HAVE TO READ IT!!! It's wonderful and so well written, the characters feel like themselves and I'm hooked, so I couldn't help but draw the characters (plus Reagan in a dress my god SHE IS SO PRETTY GUYS, Don't get me wrong I love her in her normal, more masculine clothes but I think she looks beautiful this way too)

@eeriebarbie I hope Brett's outfit was more or less how you imagined it, I wanted to make they wear matching outfits so I went for the floral and baby blue theme, I know it's not that “frat boy” but number 1 I'm not American so I have no real references, number 2 the frat outfit outfits from google are really ugly (especially the shoes are disgusting so I had to give him converses) and overall I think Brett deserves something a bit better :) Hope you don’t mind 🤍🤍🤍
Also I hope I didn't go overboard giving Regan injuries and scratches, I love her but I think the bruises and scuffs of wearing fancy shoes really make her look more Reagan :)
Lastly and I've taken total creative liberty with the suitcases I think it would be perfect and adorable if Reagan had a dirty, worn out backpack as a suitcase meanwhile Brett had the cutest, sweetest most "childish" suitcase in the world. ✨
idk why but I just find belgabad very interesting. belgabad’s eldunari being in the vault of souls is one of my cherry picked additions / headcanons to ic. Another one is Bregan (the guy who sees energy as light) becomes a bit more important during the same time the fork the witch and the worm is happening.
the fact that ive still never seen a bregan edit to accidentally in love by counting crows infuriates me
I totally see Brett having a crush on Reagan long before she notices she had one for Brett 💖
Brett: Fair warning, I'm sensitive. I'm a big baby bitch. One wrong word, and I Will get Regan to yell at you.

My chapter by chapter analysis of The Calling. Technically spoilers, but not at all.
Ch 1: Loghain’s certainly doing a lot of wife shit for a man not even interested in doing life shit
Ch 2: “the corruption was inside him” feels like a line from a different sort of literature
Ch 3: DOGS CAN BECOME GREY WARDENS!? Also little shit Fiona and slutty thief Duncan rights.
Ch 4: Damn how bad is the mental healthcare system in Thedas?
Ch 5: The next person to insult Fiona faces my blade
Ch 6: Why is a talking darkspawn the best therepist in Thedas?
Ch 7: “I c h o r”
Ch 8: You know, I may not be a Grey Warden, but something tells me that fighting a fire breathing dragon is a little worse than fighting a group of darkspawn.
Ch 9: So the Maker was here? What
Ch 10: Time for Bregan’s weekly therapy session.
Ch 11: HOLYSHIT!??
Ch 12: Ah, the obligatory Fade section ft. burying the gays before you even announced their queerness
Ch 13: Of course the only elf in the group is tortured
Ch 14: Wait, why are they fucking? Fiona has actively disliked Maric for most of the book, and while her opinions have been shifting on him, it feels so forced and weird.
Ch 15: Genevieve: “my subordinates will do the sensible thing” The Subordinates: does the opposite of that
Ch 16: Duncan’s focus on how much Genevieve has changed makes me think there’s something else going on. That implies more writing skill than I expected actually.
Ch 17: NOT THE FUCKING MABAR— WHY ARE THEY FUCKING IN THS MIDDLE OF A DARKSPAWN CHAS— FUCK A CAVE IN— THE FIRST ENCHANTER!?????
Ch 18: WHAT IS GOING ON. THE SHIT HAS BEEN TURBO BLASTED INTO THE FAN.
Ch 19: The Wardens aren’t even gonna question the fact that they can be cured? They’re just gonna speed right past that?
tl;dr: King Maric assists a group of Grey Wardens in the Deep Roads on their journey to Ortan Thaig to find a Warden on his Calling. They uncover a lot of secrets under Ferelden’s soil, and there’s a lot of fascinating lore implications for the Wardens, the Darkspawn, the Taint, and to a lesser extent, the Dwarves.
Thoughts: Another awkwardly shoved in romance plot with Maric and an Elf. I know it was to explain Alistair’s existence, but it was just so weirdly handled. Also Fiona deserved so much better. Dragon Age has an incredibly bad habit of creating Elven characters who rightfully feel maligned by the humans and “teaching’ them that their perception of humans was actually wrong all along and they’re not all actually bad and this novel is no exception. It’s most of Fiona’s character arc. Also, I know that it was written in what, 2009(?) but the Nicolas and Julian plot was exceptionally bad. And I don’t think the date excuses it.
There’s something to be said for how easily it is for the Architect to convince others of his plan. Maybe. Though if Corypheus can force a preemptive Calling in DAI I suppose convincing Grey Wardens isn’t too hard. But he is implied to have other allies, and I’m unsure how he’d convince them.
Also, we know Fiona is cured of the Taint. I originally thought it may have something to do with being possessed or laying with Maric, but she hears the Calling and is still corrupted after both. This could be an effect of the brooches from the First Enchanter though. It’s certainly fascinating that First Enchanter Remille can use blight magic however. It’s hinted that he is also tainted to an extent, (as his blood is partially black) but he is still indistinguishable from anyone else. With this new form of magic, he can speed up corruption, dissolve mortals into goop, shield people from being detected by the darkspawn, and also protect himself from its effects.
All in all, I really like this book. There’s quite a bit I take issue with, but the Taint and the Wardens are just too fascinating for me to not like this. I’d definitely recommend this one for anyone interested in learning more on those topics. I’m already planning a re-read because there’s so much to take in.
