A wooden gargantuan of an #airship carries cities across a field of clouds in this #penandink #blackworks drawing by @brejanz. How does such a colossal craft cruise so effortlessly through the sky? Well, I’d like to say that it something to do with all those tubes and junction boxes housed on the ship’s hull, and that the cities are producing a prodigious quantity of steam and hot air that the ship lifts from the ground... but there must be something more to it than that... because... well... physics. But perhaps that is one reason why this is such a darn interesting illustration. My mind is left to wonder what is housed within the hull of this cruiser, and that mystery (combined with @brejanz’ skillful inkwork) make this a great drawing to stare at and ponder over. • What does everyone else think is used to provide lift and thrust in this Victorian skyship?
