It depends a lot on when you ask her tbh ? ?? When she lived with Ivaldi, she was completely in awe of him. She idolised him. He was HER HERO, the greatest influence in her life. And there’s so much that he taught her, values that she still holds dear even to this day. Iðunn’s confidence? Ivaldi taught her that she was special. He told her never to let the world define her, but to make the world love her for who she is. < 3
But Ivaldi called her his ‘greatest treasure’ and it wasn’t a term of endearment. That was how he saw her. He cherished her like he did his finest craft, saw it as something beautiful, something he was proud of, but beyond her gift ? ?? he didn’t want her as a daughter. and the only reason he had anything to do with her upbringing was because he knew she was something desirable to the gods.
2. Their mother? How do they think of her? What do they hate? Love? What influence - literal or imagined - did the mother have?
Again, Iðunn’s opinion of her mother, Hildegun, is something that changed so drastically as she grew up and came to understand more about Ivaldi tbh. When she was young, her mother offered her very little attention, and while Iðunn was hurt by that at the time, she later came to realise that it wasn’t because she didn’t love Iðunn, but because she did. And she knew Iðunn was meant for a far greater purpose. ALSO, the fact that her mother was kidnapped by Ivaldi? ?? I just. Iðunn was too young to understand why Hildegun hated Ivaldi, why she ‘rejected’ family. But she came to understand later, and made peace with it. :’)
