Therefore, we are going to return to just one day a week for memes and anons and on Sunday, the Admin will post a writing prompt.
A prompt post may be posted any time. We invite you to really dig into your characters when answering the prompts. Show us their wonderful depth. All prompts are assumed to be private unless marked otherwise.

PROMPT NO. 1
Explore your muse’s designation.
Ideas to explore this prompt:
When did they realize their designation? Was there a moment that your muse just knew or was it a gradual revelation?
How did your muse feel about it? Have their feelings about it changed? What brought about that change?
Lin could remember hearing his parents discussing his designation, thinking he was out of earshot. His submissive mother was sure he was going to be a Dominant. His Dominant father, however, was sure he’d be a submissive. It seemed they couldn’t even agree about this, even now that their claim had been dissolved some years.
In their defense, even now that he’d reached high school, Lin had never dated anyone or shown any interest in anyone that they had noticed. Watching him grow up, neither of his parents could imagine him having the same designation that they had.
“If he were a Dominant,” his father said, “he wouldn’t be so awkward. He’d be more sure of himself. His personality is more submissive.”
“If he were a submissive,” his mother argued, “he’d have more submissive friends. He’d have more of a social life.”
“His only friend his his brother. We can’t judge based on friends he doesn’t have.”
“He’ll be like his brother. A Dominant.”
Lin tried tuning them out and going back to his studies. But he felt a hand on his shoulder and looked up to see his older brother, Hai. Perfect Hai. Handsome, smart, outgoing, Dominant Hai. Their parents had been so proud when he made his designation official. Hai looked down at him with a sympathetic smile and gave his shoulder a squeeze before heading into the next room to end his parents’ conversation.
“Mama, Baba, you’re too loud. Lin can probably hear you from his room.” Lin was grateful he hadn’t been outed for listening in the next room.
The thing was, Lin hadn’t gone long before knowing his designation. There had been a period of time when he questioned if he was either. He’d had crushes, had noticed his attraction to boys, both of which he kept to himself. But this never seemed to answer the question of whether he was submissive or Dominant. Perhaps he would be the first person to have no designation.
But that thought didn’t last long. It was because of Hai that he knew he was submissive. He depended on his brother, the only person to really know him well. His brother had noticed too, giving him gentle orders when Lin was frazzled to help soothe him. And the hand on his shoulder a moment ago had been enough to ground him. This was someone who understood him.
Lin’s father would feel vindicated when Lin was designated a submissive. Another barb to throw at his ex-submissive. His mother, on the other hand, asked him over and over again if he was sure it was an accurate designation.
Neither of Lin’s parents knew how to embrace him completely. But his brother did. At the news of his designation, Hai hugged him and told him he was proud of him.
