They found his body in the Sacramento River.

I hope his family has some form of closure now that they know. They did so much to try and find him and he wasn't even from Chico. He was some Cal Poly student who came for the float and... well, I suppose the river had other ideas. 

Rest in Peace, Brett.

I can't thank everyone enough for the overwhelming support I've received today

Brett was such an incredible person because even though he was known as a "popular" kid in school, he was friend to everyone. The world needs more people to act as he did, more people to invite that person who never gets picked to be in group projects to be in their group, people who make a conscious effort to go out of their way to say hello to the people who are quiet in class. And most importantly, we need people who treat everyone with the same amount of respect, no matter who they are.

Brett did this every day that I knew him; he went and did all the actions that I mentioned above and that's what made him such an amazing person. He left behind so many people who cared about him and I still cannot even believe that I won't be able to talk to him again. All of the support from people has been fantastic and I want to send a giant thank you and hugs to everyone (except you Simone, I'll give you a hug tomorrow :)) because it shows me that people can come together and that while not everyone knew Brett, they still wanted to do anything they could to help. Our high school is holding a candle light vigil for him on Tuesday and everyone is invited to speak. If I get the chance, I want to share my thoughts about Brett, that even though there were a handful of people that he called BEST friends, there was an entire high school class that called him a friend, and that he called friends in return. Love you Brett, and love you guys for caring, it helped so much in cheering me up today ❤
