During MLK Jr. weekend, I spent all day Saturday with some of my favorite people seeking out old and new breweries in celebration of Kristina + Henry's birthdays. It's a growing tradition I love being a part of every year, and needless to say, I'm absolutely looking forward to next year's JBrewTour. Here are some highlights of the brews we visited!
Our first stop was Henry's Tavern for a late brunch + Bloody Mary bar. Perfect kick-off to any day I'd say!
Next up was Burnside Brewing Co. where we snagged a corner booth, played a few games and enjoyed the animalistic ambiance the place was rocking.
After Burnside, we headed into southeast Portland to try Basecamp Brewing. So a few things here...1. There were quite a number of people rocking some sort of fur piece as you can see above; we had to do some googling, but eventually found out we had happened upon a "furry party." UD it. 2. Their S'more Stout comes topped off with a campfire marshmallow. Divine I tell ya. 3. Definitely a place to come to during the warm weather as they have some delicious food trucks parked right outside that I'm told are pretty delish.
The fourth stop on the ol' tour was Oldtown Brewery. Here we were dazzled by Josh's infinite magic card tricks while we ate our ways through a few of their thin-crust pizzas. The BBQ chicken (which wasn't on the menu, but they still made it for us) is probably the best I've had in a long time. Ps. how creepy/ haunted does this house look?
Our final stop was of course The Kennedy School. I just love that place. So much do to and see and explore. I can't say it enough, but I just love this tradition! Seriously, can not wait for 2016.
